Interesting development from Berwick thread on BSF. Team announced. Admission up two quid AND riders taking a pay cut to keep club going. One of those two options would be a welcome way to kelp our finances. I wonder how their ST prices compare and if they have OAP concessions.

I believe Berwicks admission price will be £17 with £13 for Concessions. Good that their riders have accepted a pay cut. This needs to be rolled out throughout the league probably too late now. Next years conference needs to make a statement that an x% pay reduction is needed to make the League viable. Riders aren't the "baddies" but they too need to reduce their costs and accept that at our level Speedway isn't a fulltime job.

Re team building, I see Eastbourne have three 2 point something riders. Surely they're gonna be more top heavy than us? Eastbourne have massive home track advantage that will see them through. Glasgow dont!

According to BSF we have 7.10 points left for Rider No7. We must use every last decimal point of that available average. Not to do so is total ineptitude.

Name available riders Ben Barker = 7.05 according to the final GS average on the BSPA website. I haven't tried out advanced mathematics to work out who'd qualify for Premiership doubling down. I also don't know what the minimum for a Scandi import is these days. 7.00 ?

Were there not issues with Ben before which might preclude his return ? If , as is rumoured, a deal has been done with Jensen I dont see club going back on it.

Yes, unfortunately it'll not be Ben Barker. I was demonstrating that there was at least one option out there (still officially unsigned) which would take us closer to the remaining points left than the rumoured Rasmuss Jensen. Good luck to the lad, I've nothing against him but it seems madness not to optimise all points available, especially considering the "handicap" of fitting Cook in.

Oh, yes, agree with you that every point would be vital and you wonder how deeply it has been explored given that Cook was the main target. I suppose you can look at it RJ is a young rider on the way up and might be a better season long. bet than BB. Or maybe not. I can foresee changes being made earlier this coming season without the need to massage the averages. Worst case scenario is that the reserves collect a total of one point between them all night and any heats they are in we struggle for a 3-3 at best. Wouldnt mind eating some humble pie though and maybe Joe and Luke will surprise us all.

Cant see that we'll have that much scope for team changes early on as the rolling averages will take some time to unroll and presumably we're looking at a double change with one being a reserve.
Reserves meet each other in the following heats and, assuming they don't beat any opponents in the teams 1-5, the number of points available is shown Heat2 6&7 v 6&7 6 Heat4 7 v 7 1 Heat8 7 v 7 1 Heat12 7 v 6 1 Heat14 6 v 7 1 So if a teams reserves are whitewashed by their opposite numbers you lost 9-1, 8-1 if a tac sub is deployed in heat12. I think this highlights quite graphically how important reserves are likely to continue to be.
With ten points and four riders you woukd expect averages of around 2.5 to be the median.

Thoughts on our sixth signings Underwhelmed but best of luck to Luke and I will support him big time. Experienced moto cross rider, possibly in the Danny Ayres, Joey Ringwood mould. Had a couple of good rides for us a couple of years back but missed all of last year due to a non Speedway injury. We've got to hope the gamble pays off.
