Noticed Stewart Coleman and Michael max being on track with our riders before races last night. We will never see anything like that again, rider in full gear jumping out a van for a 5 - 1. Track looked absolutely amazing after the weather we have had. Then the predicted monsoon started.

Watching this clip from last night I'm impressed with the size of the training track.
I wonder if insideout can share any objective and timescale plans?

Berwick take a 5-1 in the last heat decider against Edinburgh last night and win 47-43, the best result from our point of view. If Edinburgh had got a win or a draw, then we would need to do the same at Armadale. It looks like both ourselves and Monarchs will take the bonus point against Berwick, so the bonus point from our meetings with Edinburgh could be decisive in determining the qualifier for the semis.

Calling Brian Buck- any words of encouragement after Steve and Leon have a pretty poor night against Wolves, taking four rides for four and one respectively. Hope so! Though Steve managed a heat win in an otherwise poor night for the Brummies who don't have their troubles to seek. Fair play to their promotion for not trying to pull the plug after heat nine on a wet night.

Neither Leon Flint nor Steve Worrall have started well for the BRUMMIES, although Leon was top scorer with 9 points against Sheffield and beat Tai Woffinden by a distance in one of his rides.
Both have since shown patchy form - as have most of their team mates!
Overall, Birmingham did well to draw with Sheffield and produced encouraging performances away at Oxford (lost by 4) and at Ipswich (lost by 6) but disappointed in the home match against Oxford and we're truly awful against Leicester last Monday, but the consolation has been that attendances have been very good - even last Monday when the weather was atrocious.
Overall, I agree with the general view that Birmingham's team is suspect and needs another big scorer if results are to take a turn for the better. I'm still not sure about Milik or the Polish lad Lampart although he is young and seems a fair prospect. Pawlicki looked very sharp in his first appearance on Monday, even though he only scored 4, and I think he will do well when he gets to grips with the track.
Tom Brennan and Zach Cook have been our best and most consistent riders so far. Steve Worrall has been inconsistent, but I think he and Leon will settle in well with time.
The Leicester match went ahead in atrocious conditions so the result was perhaps not as bad as it might seem, but hopefully, with a couple of team changes, results will get better.

Can we but wonder at the logic of the people who supposedly run our cities? Take Birmingham City Council as an example. They have constructed over 1,000 flats in Aldridge Road, Perry Barr, directly opposite the speedway stadium. These were intended to be occupied by the athletes taking part in the Commonwealth Games in 2022, but they couldn't be, as they were not finished in time, and every one of them has now been empty for the last three years.
Now, the bankrupt City Council have decided that they should all be sold to the highest bidders - but because the council has run out of money, none of these flats have had their bathroom fitments installed, so bearing in mind that the flats are all single bedroomed, don't have sinks or baths fitted, and the asking price is £400,000 each, is it surprising that there have so far been no takers?
The situation is repeated further along the Aldridge Road, where there are another 800 empty flats in the same condition, yet this same City Council is now pressing the leaseholder of Perry Barr Stadium to apply for a planning consent to demolish it in order that it can be replaced with another 477 houses, and thinks this is a good idea!

It looks like both ourselves and Monarchs will take the bonus point against Berwick, so the bonus point from our meetings with Edinburgh could be decisive in determining the qualifier for the semis. With Redcar losing all four meetings Workington and Scunthorpe both have five points and, if both win their home meetings against the other, will finish on 8 and 7 points, which is likely to be enough for both to get through to the semis. So we need to top our group to qualify.

And things get even worse at Birmingham City Council!
The Council is now bankrupt, hundreds of millions of pounds in debt, and is being run by government commissioners. The Council's Chief Executive, two years into a five year contract at a salary of £280,000 per annum, but who has been on sick leave (fully paid of course!) since October 2023, has now decided to resign - but not before "negotiating" full payment of the remaining three years of her salary!
The Council's massive debts are due mainly to a failed new computer system which they installed, and will cost £700m to replace, and to a need to settle historical claims by female employees who since the year dot have been paid at a lower rate than men, for which they now need to find another £70m to settle - with the Unite Trade Union threatening to call a strike of they, (the Council) don't come up with the money!
Closer to home, the commissioners are now in the process of selling off as many of the City Council's assets as they can lay their hands on, and have just accepted a bid of £51m from Birmingham City Football Club for the sale of the old Birmingham Wheels site in Bordesley Green (the former home of the Brummies). Fair enough you might think - they need all the money that they can get - yet for a reason they refuse to comment on, they rejected a bid of £81m (£30m greater) from a company who wanted to restore the site to being a motor sports complex - the very reason that it was created for in the first place and which was only closed when the council took back the lease and forced its closure three years ago!
Asked to comment on this, the Council say that they think "they have accepted the best market offer.

I noted that it was revealed on comms last night that Vadim Tarasenko has quit UK speedway. Previously started the season with Kings Lynn.

Apparently, Tarasenko was "advised" to do so, by his agent, who is quoted to "have had his reasons."
Not quite sure what to make of that myself!

May be not having a remunerative Championship gig made the UK a lot less attractive. Any idea who his agent is/ was. He was a great guy for us but a mercenary just the same.

One swallow does not make a summer....?
Jack Smith didn't trouble the scorer for Scunthorpe at Workington this afternoon.
Celina got a full 3 point win! Well done her.

Pretty poor that James got excluded under the two minute rule in heat one last night. It didn't affect the outcome so no need for recriminations. However we need to learn from it. Team manager needs to know where the two minute clock is and if its not visible in the visitors part of the pits, then he needs to be on the ball to keep our riders informed of the time left. Did Rory Schlein suffer similarly at Ashfield the other week?
Seem to remember Neil Middleditch having a stopwatch round his neck in the past. May be need to do this again.
