Would guess we have to go for Friday, regardless of whom it doesn't suit. Guestfest and RR. Just what we need for the most important meeting of the season so far. Please no more play offs next year! Forecast for tomorrow at Redcar isn't great but not as bad as feared www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gcxq8n6nr#?date=2023-09-27

Until this morning the forecast was workable with rain due to stop mid afternoon and not come back in till after 11pm, however the usual scottish weather changing on the flip of a coin has seen heavier weather due in the afternoon ( rain we felt the track could cope with) however with rain due back at 8pm there was the very high risk of not making it past heat 10. Pushing for Friday however Oxford are without Nicholls Friday (commentary duties 🙄) and masters not available on Saturday so very likely oxford will try and refuse these dates, will be down to the board whether they force oxford to ride on Friday regardless if Nicholls is available or not.

Might it depend if the meeting tomorrow night at Redcar goes ahead? If we were to lose then it's all over. However if it's off then surely we are looking at an extension rather than having two incomplete meetings. Possibly no decision will be made until 10pm tomorrow night. Is Chris available on Saturday or does his Long Track meeting on Sunday afternoon preclude this?

Oxford refused to ride Friday as their celebrity has commentating commitments, and the BSPL deem this acceptable reasons not to race, despite having forced Redcar to race against oxford with half their team missing. Nothing like consistency from the powers to be ! Here's hoping their TV celebrity rides as bad his meteorology skills were shown to be after his snide twitter post yesterday.

Currently scheduled to rain at some point every day next week..... www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637197This Friday didn't look too bad. Why were Oxford not forced to ride, or forfeit, as we allegedly were going to suffer this fate if we didn't complete the fixture by Saturday? I'm trying so hard to stay away from BSF, it's wall to wall bullshit.

Watched on BSN and after two heats and two 1-5s for the Bears I thought it was going to be like Poole all over again. We got better and better and some great stuff from all six especially Lee . Team came out to our fans for pic with you know who standing like a proud father in the middle. Well done, Broon.

Recovered well from a shaky start with all six playing their part. Complin and Smith did a good job at reserve. Two down and one to go in our trilogy. We seem to be peaking at the right time for once. Bring on Oxford next Tuesday!

While I sincerely hope that playoffs are discontinued next year, I realise that this is unlikely to happen. So if we have to live with them, how about accepting the inevitable and scheduling them for October - which is when they end up anyway! - when the Polish season is over. Only four qualify, no mini sections. This would allow 2H and 2A to be raced in the preceding months. No BSN competition or equivalent as this probably a major cause of fixture problems, with the semi final and final meetings displacing the previously scheduled league meetings, We can but hope !

To amplify how convoluted the play off fixtures have been here's the list of meetings actually held on the home teams normal race night. Poole v Scunthorpe Poole v Edinburgh Scunthorpe v Poole Edinburgh v Poole
Redcar V Oxford Oxford v Glasgow
Only Poole manage to run both on their traditional Wednesday. Glasgow had no Friday meetings, and all other teams manage just one. And we think this is a good idea. Should Oxford make the final - perish the thought! - they have been stiffed with a Sunday home meeting, despite having no more fixtures to run. It's a bit hard to work that one out.

Whatever the weather throws at us on Tuesday (and the forecast is grim), I hope our clash with the Cheetahs doesn’t follow the pattern set last night at Owlerton.
The Tigers v Wolves play-off started in heavy rain and it barely let up during the match. You could sense a desperation to reach Heat 10 for the result to be called. That hardly seemed fair to Wolves, chasing a first-leg deficit. No doubt the presence of the Eurosport cameras was a major factor in the meeting being run, but, had I been a spectator, I’d have been well cheesed off with the racing.
That said, the track stood up to the onslaught and the riders adapted remarkably well to the horrible conditions. But, really, the plug should’ve been pulled before tapes up.
