There were tac subs in 1964 though not in two legged ties like the Scottish Cup. Tigers only had three scorers in the meeting at Newcastle that year, a rare and possibly unique feat - unless you know differently! Match report below
Newcastle 51 Tigers 26 (Provincial League)
Tigers created a unique record by having only three riders who actually scored points! Maury Mattingly continued riding at number two with Trevor Redmond lining up at three and Charlie Monk at five. This meant that one of the three was programmed to be in every heat other than heat eight, into which Charlie was brought as a tactical substitute. The remaining Tigers had a desperate time and didn’t manage to beat anyone!
Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to find another completed meeting with only three scorers. This tape will self destruct shortly!

This tape will self destruct shortly! That sounds like a record that only the Tigers could hold! Not sure we'll find another one to match it, though in the only meeting in which Brian Collins rode at number 2 (home v Berwick in '85, as mentioned by Dave Allen earlier in the thread), our numbers 2, 3 and 4 all managed to score zero.

Do you think he ever turned one of those missions down - ach stuff it, I canny be bothered, I'm away to Barney's furra bevvy... Anyway, having checked through my 74-90 files I've found a few 4 out of 7 scorers but no sign of any 3's.
