Quite a good meeting today, a bit too close for my liking though even taking into consideration the quality of the opposition.
Getting a bit concerned though at the lack of overtaking by our team. That's two meetings now and I feel the opposition are more likely to pass one of ours than vice versa. The exception being Joe Screen with his brilliant 'round the boards' pass in the last heat ... simply breathtaking!
Positives from today:
Joe Screen - It's all been said before by others. Christian - Gaining in confidence and looks in control when he hits the front. Josh - Apart from heat 15, after two home meetings, so it's early doors, appears to be showing consistency - the sign of a true heat leader. The track - improved on last week, less issues. Third/fourth bend - lots of room for overtaking!
Could do better:
Gate 1 - Still an issue. For most riders, though not all, it's a real disadvantage - appears to lack grip up to the first bend. 3rd bend - Apart from Joe in heat 15, it's processional going in. No one seems to want to take the high line. Still a major dip on entry. 1st bend - Still tight.
Does anyone know if further track changes are planned.
Theo and James - Just not getting to the front (though Theo is paired with the fast gating Joe in 3 races!) and look unlikely to pass the opposition after that.
Looks like we could have another close match tomorrow which is good news for SKY!

feel a bit concerned about james, his bike just looks too slow, same problem he had last year, definately needs more speed, he is gettin passed like he's standing still and we all know he is so much better than that.
enjoyed the meeting 2day, albeit a little too close for comfort!
'The Raj' rode much better than his points suggest, but what on earth was Theo doin in heat 8, that was a crazy move.
Christian rode well apart from that one heat, he is impressing me so far.
joe and josh, what can u say, just fab!

Average meeting kept interesting by the score. Heat 15 was light years ahead of the preceding fare. Fantastic heat! Prepared to give the track benefit of the doubt as both weeks I have seen heats which have taken my breath away.....just need a few more The problems are plain to see. Great stuff from Screenie and Josh but MOM has to be Christian. James still looks slow and Theo unambitious. The Raj did what the Raj does.... Get well soon to Nick could have been so much worse. Still loving the view from the shed, heart was pounding after heat 15!!! Bring on tomorrow can't wait...can I get the kids in bed befoe 7:30!!

Grieves could end up down at reserve, not a bad thing to happen.

I thought it was a good match, tho our boys could do with hitting the outside line in the first couple of bends, that said Joe & Josh both managed great passes on the second bend at the boards. There are photos of Nick & Ricky's crash on the Newcastle Offical Site, no wonder both of them were out of the meeting when you see them. (Scroll down the page to see a frame by frame...)

Looks like we could have another close match tomorrow which is good news for SKY! I agree with you georgem, I really do think Theo & Henry show no sign/attempt of making any sort of move on riders in front of them and the away riders are doing all the passing. Theo had plenty of chances to blast round the outside when in heat 10 nedermark looked to be really slowing up. Theo in heat 8 ? pfffft don't have a clue what to say about that entering lap 4 raj even looked across at him as if to say " calm down mate, your pushing me out wider every lap " which Theo was defo doing! 3rd bend does still seem to be dodgy and squared off inside & out. Henry to me is either gate well & win or gate badly and last. He doesn't seem to want to try the outside either. However, on a brighter note, the outside is defo there to be used and i think the track does have alot of good points the biggest one being as i said the outside is definitely there to be used if you have the nerve/speed to use it. As for track Grading ? Danny i think it is, always seems to grade where nobody goes ? why is he not grading the inside where MOST of the racing was done today. Overall i think today was good and I'm happy that we got the 3pts and I'm looking forward to tomorrow night at Newcastle. C'mon The Tigers!
