Following an extremely positive meeting with the Directors of Ashfield Juniors FC we can now confirm that our planned track changes will go ahead.
The changes will be substantial and as a concession will also involve us making the football pitch wider. To do this we will be pushing the track out as far as and possibly beyond the existing small perimeter wall around both bends and the back straight. The new safety fence will be positioned on or beyond where the wall would have been. We will also be increasing the overall height of the banking. Around the first and second turns the banking will take us into the existing pits area.We anticipate the banking on the third and fourth turns coming up to the level of the walkway outside the frontage of the bar. This will result in the white "wavy" wall being taken down and replaced with the safety fence!
The home straight will largely be untouched other than the exit of turn four and entrance to turn one which will see the track widened at these points. The pits area will be affected and may have to be re-configured as the banked track will take up some of this area as it sweeps round and exits the second turn two metres in front of the telephone mast.
We have taken advice from some riders and all are in agreement that the track should be "awesome".
We would like to call on all volunteers to make themselves available for manual work on sunday 14th November at 10am. The fence will require to be carefully removed prior to the plant and machinery being brought in to commence the heavy work. All being well it is anticipated that the heavy work will be completed within a 2 to 3 week timescale so the sooner the fence and electrics are out of the way the sooner we can commence. We would like this phase of the works completed prior to Xmas.
We would like to thank the Directors of Ashfield Juniors FC for their co-operation in allowing these substantial changes to take place.
Look out for details of a forthcoming fund raising event to assist in covering the costs of this major investment by the club.
Thanks .. Craig
