Our season ends on a crescendo with us taking the title for the first time in 12 years. Will it be remembered as a one off "good year" or will it be the start of a period of domination?
The season got off to a quiet start with a loss at Armadale in the BSN Trophy - Edinburgh's only home win for weeks, but a home and away double over Berwick took us through to the semis, where we had a great away win at Scunthorpe - our best away meeting of the season -until topped by Wednesday night !! Sadly we fell apart at Poole in the final.
A disappointing result at Redcar in the KO Cup was followed by an even poorer home meeting when we suffered our only defeat at Ashfield this year ending of our interest in that trophy. If nothing else elimination avoided adding to the fixture problems in late summer.
Our league performance, winning 13 of 16 meetings was an all time high but it should be said that it was one of the most uneven leagues for a long time. The top five( Poole, Oxford, ourselves, Redcar and Scunthorpe) won nearly all their away meetings at the bottom four (Edinburgh, Birmingham, Plymouth and Berwick) We were unbeaten at home with only Poole running us close which meant they took the bonus point, as did Oxford and Scunthorpe though the latter one was surely due to our home meeting only going to 10 heats before the rains came. Interestingly if we had secured these BPs then Poole, Oxford and ourselves would all have been tied at the top of the league. It was that close.
So where do we go from here? In 1993 we followed it up with another cup and league double before joining a combined league and subsequently going into liquidation. Our 2011 success heralded a time of austerity from which the Facennas thankfully rescued us. No such fears this time but an interesting winter ahead!

You could make a case that this was the best of our four title wins. In 1993 and 1994 we basically steamrollered the opposition and in 2011 we nearly ruined the club by putting together a team which was set up to win the league. This year, whether you like the play offs or not, we had to overcome two sides which were 'better' than us by dint of their finishing above us in the table. Poole, Oxford and Glasgow were fortunate that, by and large, they were injury free. 23 wins out of 32 overall was an excellent return. There was speculation on that 'other forum' which has too many shouty childish folk on it for my liking btw that there is a debate Glasgow COULD move up to the Premiership. The wisdom of that is also debateable but one shall see. Re 2024 , it depends on the points limit but Chris must top of the list for a return if he wants to. Could see Dickson pinching Lee for Berwick. Ace should be back and what do we do with Connor ? As you say, coombes, an interesting winter lies ahead.

Inhouse there is no talk of Premiership move, focus is on the championship 2024 with promotion already starting to build the team with an expected 38 points limit. If Glasgow asked, I think Lee and Bomber would stay buts that just my personal opinion, I do hope both stay at Glasgow for next season.

Wouldn't think we can fit in more than two from Chris, Ben, Tom and Claus. Oxford have already told Kerr that he's not in their plans. Can't see Redcar managing to fit in all three from Wright, King and Riss, while Poole will have to split the four of Lawson, S Worrall and both Cooks.

Having this year's reserves plus bomber would be decent start. Bailey and Claus perhaps would need to be seen as heat leaders, which is a step up for both. Throw in a 5 point aussie or 2 and we might not be far away?. Peter facenna alluded on the excellent No Brakes no fear podcast that team building was being done this week.

Claus scored a high number of BPs while partnering Ben this year and could easily be a heat leader. Connor and the 5.00 at three and four perhaps, though might Connor be Workington bound if they join the Championship?

With the likey demise of the NDL will Jack Smith's name be mentioned. Was Edwards not offered a place at Armadale but travel was a bogey for him ? Your line up , coombes, looks a decent one given the proposed points limit. I am sure Michael M will be well on it. No worries.

Was looking to see if we could fit Connor and Danyon in but they were too high and Edwards was the next one in the averages. Would have been a good signing though! Is the remaining spot to be filled by rider on an assessed average with a few alternatives ? Hope so otherwise he has the upper hand in negotiations. .

Will Vadim have a "proper" average now for '24 team building or is he still on a 5?

Here is his tweet I just like to say a massive thank you to @glasgowtigers and fans for supporting me for the past 2.5 years, in what has been a very difficult time at points both on and off the track. This morning I had a message from the management to say that I’m not in their plans for 2024.
