Its gooooooooooooooood to be back!!
Must admit I left for Ashfield today with a feeling of trepidation, the last minute clearance and comments from last week left me thinking that it might not be all right on the night.
The first heat looked ok but the second sent the alarm bells ringing, however praise be to Josef Franc for showing in one heat that all the effort had been worthwhile and Lee Complin for putting in what would probably have been last years heat of the season!!
So many positives to take from today the view of the action from the shed is incredible!...the track itself really performed much better than could have been expected and the crowd seemed large and being squashed up a bit is going to help the atmosphere.
Screenie was amazing, Josh right on it and Theo looking good...great team performance on the whole although James looked down on power (same as Armadale). All the overtaking action came from the Berwick boys so just think how things will pick up when our boys suss it out.
Only downside is that the first and second bends didn't produce much and the entrance to the third bend is a bit odd but overall wow!!
Liked watching the Gorzow fans in the main stand giving the boys their backing..if only we were all so uninhibited!
Thanks to all those involved in the transformation of the track a few tweaks to go but nearly there, brill!

I thought that facing a decent team like Berwick was a good way to start the season. That's how it turned out and well done to Glasgow for fighting back after that heat 2 disaster and by coming good at the end of the meeting. Maybe not a vintage performance but satisfactory.
The track rode a fair bit faster than I was anticipating. Joe's winning time in the first heat equated to an average speed of 47.5 mph, which compares well to Shane Parker's record on the old track (48.1 mph). This was despite fairly slick conditions and the dreadful new silencers which are adversely affecting the performance of the bikes.
As soon as someone clocks a winning time of 59.3 seconds or better they'll have beaten the average speed of the record on the old track.

Glad to have got the first meeting out the way and took all 3 points from it! A rather uncommon thing for Glasgow The track defo has potential just look at Complins ride. Although it did seem to be all the away riders making the passes.
