I must be getting old-watched most of the Stars v Hammers match on Sky tonight and while the Hammers were er...... hammered I couldn't disagree with the 2 in the box saying the entertainment had been good, with lots of passing. KL seemed just like I remembered it from the days of Terry Betts, Malcolm Simmons, even Howard Cole-and Jimmy Mac and the rest of the Tigs usually scoring between 36 and 38 points, but never 40 (for younger readers, a couple of points away from an away win). Loads of lines for passing, and as fast as sh...a seriously quick track. (Wonder if the beer has got any better) Hope they do a few more meetings from there this year-if the track can make a 65-30 seem entertaining, the punters in Norfolk can look forward to getting value for money this year.

Saddlebow Rd was always one of favourite tracks. Big and fast with plenty of passes for those who were willing to wind it right on. Looking at the teams at the start, I didn't fancy Lakeside's chances much, but they got absolutely blown out of the water even quicker than I had anticipated. The Stars followers are lucky speedway fans to have such a good racing strip. Hopefully we will be likewise in the PL this season. I remember those old KL Stars of years gone bye too, Herbie. And the questionable quality of the ale.

Great TV but a very poor Lakeside outfit. Lee Richardson managed, as usual, to insert a good few moans into a very short TV interview. He really is the most greetin faced man on two wheels these days.

He really is the most greetin faced man on two wheels these days. I feel the same way about Richardson as you obviously do, Jock. If all is well then smiles all round. If not, the tools are swiftly packed away and any semblance of commitment disappears like snow off a dyke. I was certain that when he found himself in last place in his second last outing, that he would chuck it on the pretext that his machine had problems. Surprisingly, he completed the four laps. Although normal LR service was resumed in his last race when he doddled round at the back for a bit until he pulled off the track.

He isprobably the most accomplished British rider of the past 10 years or so but is moody and short of bottle. He gated level with Bjerre in heat 13 but knocked it off as he could not clamp him down.
