My thanks to warrenedric for all the information provided so far I'm looking for scans of both the programme cover and racecard from the final meeting at Blantyre Stadium on 18th October 1981 if anyone can oblige. I'm also trying to pin down the date in 1980 when Robbie McGregor was found to be underage and banned. He is mentioned in Dick Barrie's programme column of 22nd June as being 16 but I then have a large gap in my collection so don't have a reference to the ban being imposed. I'm guessing it was sometime in June/July/August but can anyone enlighten me? Finally would anyone be able to put me in touch with former Blantyre track photographers Ian Wilson, Gordon Leith or Ronnie Young? All information will of course be treated in the strictest confidence.

Was the final meeting at Blantyre1 against Bobby Beatons Buccaneers? if so i think it was just a photo copied manuscript race card - although I might be wrong about that. Think Robbie McGregor got "found out " quite early but can't put a date on it. I keep in touch with Ronnie Young from time to time. He does have an email address since he retired from BT but if you post your details on the Hampden hawks guestbook, I'll forward them to him glasgowcshistory.tripod.com/hampdenhawks

There was indeed a programme issued for the final meeting in 1981 against The Buccaneers, Coombes. It didnt have as many pages as the regular season prog though, If I remember right it was only an 8 pager as opposed to the usual 12 Robbie McGregor was found to be under age very early doors, I think it may even have been before the end of April I do seem to recall him still hanging around for most of the summer though, before disappearing and turning up at Kings Lynn and Boston the following year. Didnt he live in a caravan next to the track with his Dad and they used to work on the track during the week to earn their keep?

They stayed in a Portacabin type trailer in Beaton's garage.

He certainly rode in the Anglian Junior League possibly for Boston although I'm sure he popped up at Kings Lynn

Robbie McGregor piled up with Berwick Borderers' Brian Clark in the opening heat of a Scottish Junior League match on 16th May. Both were taken to hospital but neither sustained any serious injury. He rode one meeting for both Boston & King's Lynn in 1981, and was a member of KL's AJL winning squad. Coombes, thanks for that, have done so. Still no luck on the scan front for the final Blantyre 1 meeting, anyone? Incidentally, in case you're wondering what all this is about, check out the new addition to the excellent Defunct Speedway website www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/Glasgow%20Craighead%20Park.htmCurrently finalising the Blantyre Stadium items, so look out for them being posted soon

Finally would anyone be able to put me in touch with former Blantyre track photographers Ian Wilson, Gordon Leith or Ronnie Young? Ian's my brother in law. If you want to e-mail me at john@searoute.co.uk I will try and get him to respond. Don't know if still has his archive of photographs but you never know.
