Have set up a web site covering the 1964-68 time at the White City. The first three seasons are just about finished - once i get the stats tables to load. 1967 and 1968 are very much a work in progress with only scores and scorers at present but hopefully will get added to in the coming months. The site is nearing its capacity so any further photos can only be added by taking out some of the existing ones - so some of the pages may change in the coming months. Site is at redmond-years.tripod.com/whitecty- yes with the mis-spelling "whitecty" !! Would be pleased to hear of any memories that are additional or even contradictory to what I've written

Managed a peek at the site tonight and for punters of my vintage it's excellent, accepting that there are as Coombes indicates a few works in progress. Suppose my memories of White City centre on Charlie Monk being nigh on unbeatable, George Hunter dismantling the starting gate about 6 ft in the air, Jimmy Mac's first max, and even the touring Prague team visiting while Russian tanks were invading their city. It's well worth a look as it is, will be essential reading when it's complete. Nice one, Coombes-have you told Speedwayplus?

Herbie, had planned to publicise it once it was complete, or near completion but hadn't thought about Speedway Plus, so thanks for the suggestion. Hope to load half of 1967, up to the Fair break by the end of the week. Some bad weather to keep me off gardening duties would help....but as that might mess up thew start to our season, I'll not wish for it!!!

Have now added most of the 1967 write up. A couple of points that I'd appreciate help on - Warren Edric? or others. Was a program issued for our away meeting at Exeter on 25/9/67? meeting was held over for a fortnight until early October. Nelson v Glasgow B - I know the scorers were listed on Easy Tiger some time ago, but I think the pages are no longer available. Can anyone pse list them again, thanks. redmond-years.tripod.com/whitectywill take you to the index page, them click on 1967 Supporter Promoter

Would suggest Speedwayplus again as if you make the appeal someone is bound to have the info you're looking for.

Coombes, A programme was issued for match at Exeter on 25th September 1967. Can scan you a copy if you need it. The re-run a couple of weeks letter was a completely new programme when Exeter raced a double header against Edinburgh and then Glasgow. Oyvind Berg and Brian Whaley rode for both the Monarchs and Tigers in that double header.
Scorers for Nelson v Glasgow B on Saturday 2nd September 1967 were: Nelson Alan Paynter 1' 1 2 3 3 = 10+1 Jack Winstanley 2 0 1' R 2 = 5+1 Goog Allan 3 0 3 3 2' = 11+1 Murray Burt 1 R 3 R 0 = 4 Mick Handley 3 2 2 3 3 = 13 Lazslo Munkasci 1 1' 1' R 1' = 4+3 Joe Burnett 2 0 = 2
Glasgow B Russ Dent 3 2' 3 2 2 = 12+1 Kenny Omand 0 3 0 1' F = 4+1 Jim McMillan 2 3 3 3 3 = 14 Forbes McKenzie 0 0 1' 0 1 = 2+1 Bo Josefsson 2 2 2 2 1' = 9+1 Brian Whaley 0 1' 1' 1' 0 = 3+3 Harry Appleby 1 2 = 3
Can send you a scanned copy of programme racecard if you need it.

Warren E
Many thanks for the details which I will add to the website shortly. After twenty years I now know I haven't got all the Tigers programs after all!! Ironic that I had a penpal in Exeter around then and presumably he didn't bother going along when it was rained off!! See you at Ashfield. Good luck in the play offs!

Have now added the reports etc for 1967 and 1968. Still have to add the 68 statistics - did you know that Ake Andersson never scored a point away from home?
Will start scanning in photos etc for 67 and 68 up to the site's capacity and will then send a link to Speedway Plus etc

did you know that Ake Andersson never scored a point away from home? If I remember correctly, he started his Tigers career with a heat win and it was rapidly downhill thereafter

Hi DJW, crikey I must be old, I recognised all the Scottish riders, I was at that match, some crowd, changed days The ESO engines were being used more and more Great bit of film I liked White City, I still have all my programmes, 1964 to the last season, wonder if Tigers would still be there if the motorway had not been built right through it Charlie Monk, my all time hero, George Hunter, we loved to boo him, well he was a Monarch ;D
Bye for now, on the square
