Won't be going as there days I prefer my sport in an ice rink to have sticks and pucks. Wondered, though, if anyone else of my vintage remembered a couple of meetings which were tried at Edinburgh Ice Rink in the early 70's-I can remember the era as we used to sing "There's not a team called the Edinburgh Monarchs" whih always went down well with the home support! Can remember the likes of Jimmy Mac and maybe even George Hunter giving it a whirl. Was a good fill in for the winter months.

The only one I attended at Edinburgh was possibly the first (I didn't know there were more) and probably late sixties/early seventies. I think it was a Scottish team versus England. The only problem was that the Scots boys were mouted on Bultaco Trials bikes with studded tyres whilst the England team were on what appeared to be tiny (don't know what kind) dedicated "ice rink speedway" bikes. I wasn't impressed. Bit of a disaster really. Don't know why but Dougie Templeton is the only rider I can definitely remember taking part and maybe Bert Harkins? Does anyone else remember this and possibly give more details?

We went to Murrayfield rink in 1987 think it was about Feb. Scottish team was Steve Lawson, Jimmy Mac, Kenny McKinna and I think Les Collins Geoff Powell was res. also World Champ at the time Hans Neilsen also rode. Yugo Cars were the sponsors, I still have my badge. Also remember getting a signed Hans Neilsen poster.

I quite like it....it's obviously a lot slower but it's a nice build up to the new season The interval entertainments usually quite good fun too. Sway riders trying to Dance on Ice a few yrs back was quite funny lol.

Was a regular at Telford in the 90s. It gets you in the mood for the new season. The racing tends to improve in the evening but you're not going to get normal speedway and as long as just take it as a bit of fun it's enjoyable
