Hi There.
As part of my research into the 1972 season I am looking for clarification of Bobby Beaton's & Bert Harkins points totals in this meeting.
I have Bobby Beaton scoring 5 & Bert Harkins 10 points with Harkins 1st and Beaton 2nd in Heat 1. Speedway Star suggests the placings are reversed.
Can anybody please clarify the correct placings in heat 1?
Thanks for reading.
Steve

Hello Steve,
According to the programme I have, Bert won Heat 1 with Bobby 2nd. Bert scored 10 - 3, 3, Fell, 2, 2 & Bobby got 5 - 2, 2, Fell, Tapes, 1
Jim McMillan & Peter Collins tied for 1st with 14 but my prog doesn't say if there was a run-off - do you know if there was & who won it?

Thanks for your help - Programme confirm its an error in Speedway Star. Run off was raced which Peter Collins won against Jim McMillan (Time 74.6)

Thanks for your help - Programme confirm its an error in Speedway Star. Run off was raced which Peter Collins won against Jim McMillan (Time 74.6) I'm confused. In Peter Oakes 'History of the BL', in a list of Indiv'l Meet winners(1,2,3s) - p68,Div.1 Aves - , it shows Mauger as the 1972 winner, - and there's no alt. year that has Collins & McMillan as a 1,2. - ? (Collins wins in 74 & 75, and '84.) There's also an ommission to this list of NRC winners by NOT giving the venue(s) which I presume all to be Sheffield, - Yes?)

Stand easy, britmet. The thread refers to the NRC qualifying round at Hampden on July 28, 1972. The info given by steve19620 and Flying Tiger tallies with my pencil scribbles in the programme. Jimmy Mac beat PC in Heat 5, but Doug Wyer spoiled the skipper's maximum five heats later. Why do I mention this? The Flyer's signature is the only one on the front of my programme. No, I don't understand my logic either. I was 12, mind.

A Qualify Round ! Well, well. (QR never mentioned !) Thanks Pail-M.
Was there a NRC in '62 & '63 after Tony Robinson's 2 wins at the start of the PL ?
