I'd like to take this opportunity & ask you to join me to wish The Official Easy Tiger! 1960 Speedway Expert, Coombes a very happy birthday as he enters his own golden era.
I'd also like to thank him for sharing his memories of the golden era, giving those of his generation the opportunity to reminesce about legendary riders at the dearly departed White City and take the younger generation back to a time when only speedway bikes were doing 0-60 rather than the cars on the motorway.
On a personal level I'd like to say a big thanks for teaching me the important skills in life : how to work out speedway averages, fill in programmes & the danger of supporting the dark side.
Hope you have a great day Coombes!

Happy birthday Coombes. I assume Ally is indicating you have reached a milestone birthday. Have you used the bus pass yet?
I'll buy you a birthday refreshment the next time you are at the hockey, seeing as there is no speedway until March.

Many thanks guys - much appreciated. Still applying after sun following blowing out the candles and yes I am now the proud owner of a bus pass - can get up to Ashfield for free next year, but likely to take hours getting home!!

Only just picked this up. Belated happy undisclosed milestone birthday. Does AllyN realise that all of these life skills were honed in the playground at Montrose Street?

Eh, there are quite a few contributors to this forum whose life skills were similarly honed in that vicinity!

For all those that attended AGS, you might be interested to know that at a reunion lunch in September it was suggested that Jimmy Hinds - both a Physics teacher and a Tigers fan - had apparently become some kind of priest in later life - incredible if it is true!!

Thats what I was told, but like you find it pretty incredible. Don't exactly know when either - any time in the last forty years
