Proof, if proof were needed, of how vital Reserves are, especially away from home. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can get our chosen two back on track, fit and scoring.

Our next three fixtures are Workington (H), Edinburgh (H) and Workington (A). Neither side have particularly strong reserves so we might be ok against them but you can understand, with the limited replacement options, if the club is hoping Ace can ride in them.

It is Hodder at 6 and Smith at 7 tomorrow. Against McGurk and Liebmann it is a toss up. It is Cook, Claus and Batchelor that worry me sick.

Once again good that our media people have the line up out early. As BB says it's a bit of a toss up between their reserves and ours, but theirs need to cover three? of Vuolas RR rides. Would add Zitscke to the Comets "worry list" Tomorrow really is one we need to win.

Thanks, coombes, for adding Zischke to the 'worry' list. Reported somewhere on BSF that Jack Smith blew engine/burnt out clutch at Berwick followed by a big crash at Northside next day causing back pains. Certainly hope is fit and his machinery as well.

Looking at head to head comparisons, we could be in trouble tonight Harris / Cook The master of Ashfield battle. Looks pretty even but Cook scored an amazing 16 last night while Harris got 3 and if Cook is in the mood We're in trouble Pearson /Zitsche Pearson not impressive at Oxford while it's Zitsche first appearance at Ashfield Flint / Vissing Vissing! Thiugh Flint scored well for Birmingham last night. Starke/ Dan Thompson More trouble for the Tigers Worrall / Batchelor Worrall all day
Which leaves the reserves. Will Liebmann be better than Jack Smith. Which Smith will turn up tonight? Has he sorted his bike issues. Hodder v McGurk - no idea but the outcome could be pivotal. Pass the valium Benbulben! Interesting times!

Eye-catching paid 18 point 6 ride max for one time Tigers target Patryk Wojdylo last night, in the same Lynn vs Birmingham meeting last night too.

Well we got out of jail tonight. Our reserves proved much better than theirs and it told in the end. However we struggled against a strong top five and one made stronger by a shrewd choice of guest. Questions over Worrall, Starke and Flint, though to a lesser extent over the latter. While our PR will glorify this win, it papers over the cracks. We would be toiling against better reserves. Fortunately Edinburgh aren't great in that department, so we should be ok next week, but surely a bonus point lost tonight. Not a great start to our league campaign.

We are set up to have a strong top two for 13 & 15 and we were exposed big time tonight. Three points won't do for a heat leader in any meeting. Time for Starkey to sort his engines out, still a good rider but painfully slow.

Changes need to be made soon, tonight was not good enough, Worrall just has not turned up yet, Flint is not the answer. Looks like a bag of nerves

I can just about accept Flint but Worral and Starke have been around long enough now to do better, Starke especially needs to get his machinery sorted out.

Have we unwittingly painted ourselves into a corner with our team set up. Ace, Lee and Paul are nearly irreplaceable because there are so few riders with "real" averages below them, only 2.00 guys. Looking at current figures, only Jake Mulford, Sam Hagon and Connor Coles have lower figures.
It is to be hoped that no further action is taken against Lee and that Ace is back soon, because, if not, we're in trouble with such a limited pool of guests.
I've never been a fan of making early team changes, but unless Paul's scoring picks up, his average will be too low for any possible change.
Troubling times.

Another variable is Lee's season hasn't yet started and he might take time to get going.
Flint was better last night though still not enough speed into the third bend. He'd be less vulnerable if Bomber could show him the way and stop him running the inside on 3&4 which only loses him ground when chasing.

Maybe Lee could be having a bit of time practicing at Ashfield while waiting for the go ahead, that's unless they don't think that the outcome is going to be favourable.
