I had been taken as a wee loon in 1952 and saw the Tigers win but a meeting I remember from 1953 was titled Harding's red devils v Campbell's dandies. Details in Speedway Researcher. What I do remember was Dick Campbell and Merv Harding having a real pile up early on going down the back straight and being stretchered off. To my young eyes crowd seemed really big. That is 70 years ago, good Lord !

Thanks, coombes. I had the programme as well as a lot of White City ones as the local newsagent used to go and would give me them on a Thursday morning before school. When the sport stopped in Scotland they got tossed as I never thought by 1964 it would come back to Glasgow

I can sympathise with you on losing your programme collection. I used to have a huge collection of Speedway magazines (mostly Speedway News) dating back to 1934 and which I kept wrapped and catalogued in my bedroom cupboard, but after my wedding and two week honeymoon, my Mother greeted with the remark "I've had a clear out and thrown all those old comics of yours away."
Arrrgh!!!
