Crikey, if we score 40 I will be shocked! I hope I am wrong but Expect we will be 10 down by ht4.

You may well be right, geriant. A night for a stiff lemonade and a lightly buttered digestive biscuit. My worry is the home leg. Redcar ran them close in Dorset and got gubbed at home.

I remember we were invited for a challenge match in 1993 against 1st Division Poole. We lost 70-37 basically missing the gate in most races. However, on the odd occasion we came out of bend 2 in front we managed to do quite well. So nothing changes; 30 years later and Poole are still making the starts and winning meetings. However, the Redcar meeting earlier this year was notable with the Redcar riders proving if you could outgate the Pirates they weren't unbeatable. I just hope our management team and riders have watched the BSN meeting and listened to Danny King about how Poole prepare their starts. If not its going to be a long night!

Good point Benbulben. While tonight is a tough ask, losing at home would unravel things, particularly with the Pirates back the following week on league business. However are we all being too pessimistic? Are both supporters and riders in danger of psyching themselves out or is it in our DNA not to expect too much so that we're not so disappointed? Off to look out the gin!

It's no wonder people are stopping supporting speedway.

Sadly I think there's a few more monkeys on our back tonight.

That's a great shame. I feel very sorry for the owners, 2nd leg is commercial suicide

Dire performance and a track that offers absolutely zero in terms of racing or entertainment. It tells a story when the youngest most inexperienced rider in the team is asked to go out and try and turn the meeting around. I do feel sorry for the promotion as inevitably numbers for the 2nd leg will be low but at least we have a chance of getting more passes in 1 heat at Ashfield than you do 15 heats at Poole. Poor advert for speedway Poor example of performance needed in a final Only glimmer of positivity was seeing young Ace gaining some valuable experience on the back of another successful night for him. Absolutely scunnered with tonight tbh.

We cant gate! Thirteen heats tonight were a 20 yard sprint from the tapes. After that it was a single lane highway. We werent beaten by GP riders but riders equivalent to ours at any other venue on any night of the week. They have their equipment tuned in and even when they were slower to drop the clutch they were ahead going into turn 1.
I wondered if the ripped outsides and ultra slick insides on the corners was there to get us to choose 2 & 4 if we won the toss. In the end it mattered not a jot as it was over as a contest after ht4. Team changes will come from here, of that Im in no doubt.

We certainly couldn’t gate tonight but in general I reckon Ben, Claus and Tom and sometimes Ace to be good haters…...just didn’t happen tonight. Wonder what the gating “trick up the sleeve” was that Richard Lawson was referring to? Agree with your other comments md but what changes do you envisage could be made?

Hard to know, I didn't jump on the replace Complin bandwagon but its becoming harder to justify. Two decent meetings against Edinburgh and Berwick back in April have seen little else. He doesn't seem in control of his bike most times and I dont think he can change. Thats the easy bit, finding a better rider on a lower average and who is available is the mission impossible. Marcin has been on a downer recently, most noticably from the Redcar home defeat. He doesnt like the track being anything but smooth and now isnt scoring points and it shows. He's still a good rider though and would back him more than Complin to sort it sooner rather than later.
