Taking it to Wembley would mean trying to engage a new audience a bit like the one off NFL fixtures that have been played there and a couple of other things. It will take very deep pockets to promote.
London and its surrounds have lots of top level sports for competition, put on a track/meeting like Cardiff and you've killed it straight away.
Fair play to Discovery if they give it a go, perhaps they are looking at a long term replacement for Cardiff which has been dire for a long number of years though the ideal track for a second GB Grand Prix is Manchester provided it doesnt rain!

Any auld heids ever attend the one off Wembley world finals? Was at the 1969 final when Ivan Mauger won…..I had an horrendous migraine attack prior to the the event which put a bit of a damper on things for me but luckily recovered in time for the meeting after some pain killers and a sleep on the wall at the car park. Luckily my years of migraine suffering are behind me now. One memory I have from that time was all riders were busy, busy working away in the pits getting their bikes ready except Ivan who was casually driving round the car park in his Rover 2000 with bike on the back, chatting to supporters and signing autographs. What a guy……

Was at Wembley in 1978 to see Ole Olsen win his third title. Atmosphere electric, 90,000+ crowd.

As I've probably mentioned before, Mrs DWS's daughter lives in Cardiff, so it's a family visit as much as anything else. I think I've only missed two of the Cardiff GPs. Apart from last time around the GPs have been okay, not great by any stretch of the imagination of course. Paradoxically last year was totally garbage entertainment but fantastic atmosphere of course.
I think we would all agree that if Belle Vue could be increased to..... 30k?......it would be ideal. But then there's the lack of a roof, which can certainly help, not just on the day but in the build up, not that that is such a big deal at the NSS.
I did go once to see one of the very first NFL game at Wembley. The only negative I can remember was the trains, when we were.... I can't call it anything else but kettling.......in groups to get on the trains.
IIRC it was a capacity crowd for the NFL, and speedway would be half the crowd. I'd be right up for it!

I was at the 72, 75 ,78 and 81 World Finals all great nights and great atmosphere. Also the World Team Cup in 68, my first visit to the stadium. The FA kicked Speedway out and now they are coming cap in hand so obviously they are in financial trouble. I'm concerned that they think November or December is the time for Speedway racing. Whoever finances the build of the temporary track etc is taking a huge risk. I believe the BSPA had the chance to run a meeting their a long time ago but bottled out as a rain off could have bankrupted them.
