Enjoyed watching the rerun of "Football Years" on STV last night and in particular Scotland beating England at Wembley in 1967 to put an end to all their World Cup hype!! What I wasn't aware of was the the same night (15 April) the Tigers won their last ever BL meeting at Old Meadowbank - atruly amazing encounter. In both events, Scotland and Tigers were so much better than the opposition but ended up only narrow victors. Baxter and Johnstone decided to extract the proverbial michael rather than score further goals and it nearly got caught out. Tigers were deservedly ten points up - with Maury Mattingley in great form but two tactical rides mean we were only four up going into the last heat. With Hunter and Persson out against Wells and Ringstrom, things looked worrying but Ringstrom rode the race of his life to keep Persson behind him
think April 15th should be a National Holiday!!
