Glasgow raced Motherwell at Ashfield in late May 1952, beating them 50-34 in the Lanarkshire Cup on a night when the Giants were racing in Edinburgh and their fans could have been expected to have made the trip to the Capital. Anyone know why this rather strange arrangement was made.

I would imagine it was just because the Ashfield promotion wanted the continuity of a weekly meeting. Pretty sure Tigers raced the Monarchs at Ashfield as a neutral track as well.

Yeah, 9 August 1949 at Ashfield in a challenge. Tigers got gubbed 28-56 by the Monarchs. 9 October 1971 we beat Cradley 47-31 at Belle Vue with Mauger guesting at #1 and scoring 10 so not totally unusual but i doubt promotions could get away with that now.
