The official end-of-season S.J.L. press release and the 1982 Speedway Yearbook both state that this fixture was rained off 4 times. However the actual dates are not immediately clear.
Speedway Star listed the fixture for 21st August.
21st August (Glasgow v Rye House) - Not possible as Workington v Halifax fixture raced.
22nd August (Berwick v Rye House) - Berwick v Darvel fixture raced.
28th August (Glasgow v Peterborough) - Not possible as Workington v Darvel fixture raced.
29th August (Berwick v Weymouth) - Berwick v Glasgow fixture raced.
4th September (Glasgow v Middlesbrough) - Not possible as Workington v Felton fixture raced.
20th September (Glasgow v Edinburgh rained off) - PROGRAMMED CONFIRMED DATE.
25th September (Glasgow v Stoke) Darvel v Felton fixture raced.
4th October (Glasgow v Halifax rained off) - POSSIBLE DATE. NEVER SEEN A PROGRAMME SO CAN'T CONFIRM.
10th October (Glasgow v Edinburgh) - 2nd half rained off - PROGRAMMED CONFIRMED DATE.
18th October (Glasgow v Buccaneers) - not programmed. Wss it a late addition but then cancelled?
The match isn't included in any programme prior to 21st August. There are no obvious targets for a "not in programme but arranged then rained off" scenario - unless someone knows different of course.
Or are the official stats just plain ol' wrong?
