With Jack Thomas and a few others walking out of a meeting at Plymouth last week, protesting about track conditions, reminded me of the tigers walking out of a meeting at Canterbury over starting procedures. We must have had a short fuse that night. I think the Monarchs did likewise at Poole a few years earlier and I'm pretty sure Mildenhall went in the huff and refused to ride in the second half possibly twice at Blantyre. Edinburgh did the opposite staging races after the referee postponed a meeting! Any others you can remember?

I can remember my team (Birmingham) refusing to ride in a match at Peterborough in 1986. The Peterborough promoter Martin Rogers was so miffed that he ran all 13 heats with just his own two riders for a 65-0 home win!

Yes it did. I thought we were going to have another one tonight! Parade seems to have been like a scene out of Slapshot.

Didnt that piece of Monarchs petulance also cost them a massive fine and almost closed them down circa 1985?
