The photo in my avatar is 50 years old and possibly captures the momebt it all started to go wrong for Lars Jansson. Until then he had made a fairly impressive start to his Tigers career. Tommy Berquist made the gate and Lars was chasing him. Berquist went wide coming out the second bend and Lars went to come under him when Berquist closed the gap. Both fell and it was a tough call as to who should be excluded. Referee Chapman kept changing his mind and a delay of over 20 minutes ensued before the final decision that Lars was excluded. This seemed to unsettle him and he only managed a couple of points in our 39-39 draw with Cradley. Worse was to follow with tracks getting better as the weather improved and Lars began to toil. I always felt he could have made it but sadly it wasn't to be.
