I think the point of the discussion is that James had been asked by another party BEFORE that meeting how he felt about getting dropped-if that's correct, then the injury had nothing to do with the decision-it had already been made. Now did this other party have: A) No association with Glasgow speedway for many years and was indulging in some mischief making. The Tigers won easily on their last visit five weeks beforehand, so a word to unsettle an opponent who is a track specialist just before the match might just help their beloved Monarchs. OR B) The confidence of the Glasgow management who confided in them their plans to change the team and how they were going to execute it. I think I'll go with option A. I was also sorry to see James omitted from the side. He has been a wonderful servant to the Tigers, one of my favourites ever to wear the red and white. However, whatever the planned change to the team was, the issue was forced when James crashed and the team had to be re-declared by 19:30 on the Sunday evening. If the team had to be re-declared by 7.30pm on the Sunday then it's pretty obvious that the decision to drop Grieves must have been made well in advance of that, or do we believe that Screeny got a call about 6pm on the Sunday to say "come and ride for us" and it was all tied up within 90 minutes. Think I'll therefore stick with option B, whether it was directly or indirectly, whether the "alleged" individual had the confidence of the promotion or not, seeing as the whole team were allegedly demotivated at Edinburgh that night-as I said, lousy way to treat a rider-if you have to let him go, at least say to him before you ask him to go out and risk his neck (or, in this case, foot) on your behalf.

I think Joe was expected to be in a re-declared team issued that day, however I don't think James was the rider that was due to be dropped, until his reported injury. It's possible that the promotion had already sent the BSPA a revised lineup, but not publicised that fact, and then had to re-re-declare it by the deadline without James.

I think its obvious the decision to include Screen had been made in advance. Who was to make way? I don't believe that decision was made until Sunday evening.
So who was it within the Tigers management that leaked the info prior to the Edinburgh match as you suggest. They all read the board so I'm sure they will come on and confirm or deny what you are suggesting happened.
Perhaps the scenario described by PLUSTAR is far nearer the mark.
I woud like to see James still riding for the Tigers. He is another in a list of Tigers riders who have been dropped undeservedly. Bob Maxfield, Steve Lawson, Kenny McKinna, Mick Powell now Grievsey, all did nothing wrong to lose their team place. All victims of circumstance.

To be honest I think Screenys kevlars were made up when the rest of the teams were. As I believe Joe Screen was going to be a fully fledged Tiger at some point this season, no matter what ..........in fact he was probably stoatin' aboot Warrington high street in them as early as March ;D

From what I've heard, so probably just rumors & guesses, up until the moment the 2 paramedics, independently, said that James's foot was broken it wasn't James that was to be dropped to let Joe (& Nick) in the team. However once James & the Promotion were told of this injury, James said to the Promotion to make moves, as he was expecting a 4-6 week layoff, and was hoping to be able to fit back in once fit again. Obviously the paramedics were wrong and James was actually fit, and as such took steps himself to keep money coming in by signing for Redcar. I'd happily welcome James back into the lineup, if we can fit him in, but with the way Joe and Travis are scoring it could be difficult, and will also depend on his deal with Redcar. If this is right, and I don't doubt you plustar, then it makes me feel very different about the whole issue. If it is right, why didn't the promotion just come out and said it? By doing so they would have cast James in the role of a real team player and put themselves in a better light than many believed at the the time.

All the team demotivated at Edinburgh!!! lmao!
Grieves would've been out of the side, the minute a 3-0 was awarded in heat 15 at Armadale... Don't believe for 1 second that the decision was left any later than that. Had that "unfortunate" 3-0 not occurred, then Glasgow would be sitting with their "dream team" now!
Oh, and a good point at Sheffield btw;)
