I was told that the Sheffield incident was prior to me returning in late 2001 and I'm pretty sure that I saw Neil at the tapes in 2002 at least It was in September 2000 that Neil had his encounter with Adam Allott, can also confirm he did nothing wrong - I had a great view as assistant to him that day

FT, can I ask why you, as assistant were not allowed to take over, as if my memory serves me right the match was abandoned due to having no start marshall .

at the time there was no one with the appropriate licence to do it if i remember correctly

I certainly wasn't licensed so couldn't do it, the only other person licensed as far as I know was Calum McAulay who was willing, but Brian Sands didn't want to let him, as in his eyes Neil had done nothing wrong, so stalemate ensued & the meeting was abandoned at Heat 11, scores 33 each. No restaging took place either, Sheffield were awarded the victory
