while browsing the programme 2day i noticed they have changed to rules regarding rain off tickets. apparently if it gets rained off after say heat 4, we can use our rain off ticket for any of next 3 matches but have to pay £4, (£1/heat) but is applicable up to heat 12, so if gets rained off after heat 11, we use or ticket and have to pay £11 next time, i think. its a strange one, can see all the pros and cons though, lets hope we dont have to find out

Saw this in the Berwick programme a few weeks ago so it appears to be standard practice throughout the league.
I would imagine it has been brought in to save the home promotion some money when a meeting gets abandoned before heat 8.
One question though. If the meeting is abandoned after Heat 12 and the result declared, do the punters get a £3 discount to cover the three lost heats ?

I think it is a pretty fair idea. It was wrong that there was a "black and white" cut off, previously after heat six although in recent years after heat eight. It would be very costly for the home promotion if the postponement happened before the cut off. Similarly it was an expensive night if you only got eight races for your admission fee. However if the meeting gets abandoned after heat twelve with a result declared I don't think you can reasonably expect any concession.

I can see a possible complication if there are two or more rain offs giving different 'discounts (e g one rained off after two heats and another after five heats) when there doesn't seem anything obvious on the face of a ticket to indicate to which match it relates. They used to have a match number but maybe we'll just have to come early that day
