Q1 How did you enjoy staying in shawlands with free rent?
BO - I dont know about the free rent. If you mean pollockshaws, we had stony - joe hicks - then occasionally trevor redmond - chris julian etc staying over, We never got kicked out so we must have paid the rent!
Q2 How did you get on riding with the scottish boys at white city?
BO - Never had a problem, they were all good guys, one of the first lads we met when we arrived was young Bertie Harkins who took us to his mums place for a cup of tea, everyone was very friendly.
Q3 Bluey Scott was he one of the good guys in the the team in 64-65?
BO - Bluey was a neat guy, Very easy going and a good rider as well.
Q4 That man Charlie Monk how did you get on with him?
BO - Even though I rode with him a lot we never really talked much, I tend to take people as I find them so it didnt worry me at all, He was a dedicated win machine, and very hard to make friends with.
Q5 Where did you take your first speedway ride?
BO - At Waiwakaiho Speedway in New Plymouth (my hometown), North Island NZ.
Q6 Did you enjoy riding at the white- city 64-65?
BO - I loved it, it was my favourite track, luckily.
Q7 Best team partner you raced with?
BO - I spent most of my 2 years riding shotgun for Charlie Monk.
Q8 I heard a wee whisper from a friend that on sunday evenings you were invited over for your steak-pie chips to Eastwood?
BO - I believe you may be right.
Q9 How much did it cost you for you first bike?
BO - Its so long ago i cant remember, it was an old villiers hand change twostroke thing, but I was fairly poor so I probably didnt pay much more than 5 pound.
Q10 Name best 7 riders you raced with?
BO - Ivan - Briggo - Ronnie - Ken McKinley - Ray New - Bob Andrews - Bruce Subritski - plus many others.
Q11 Is Hossie still beating you at the golf?
BO - Actually I haven't played against Hossie so thats one we will never know.
Q12 How many clubs did you race with in your career?
BO - Waiwakaiho - Palmerston North - Glasgow Tigers.
Q13 Would you be a speedway rider again at the cost now?
BO - I guess if I was young again I would still do it for the enjoyment.
Q14 Worst track you raced on in Britain?
BO - I could never quite get the hang of Old Meadowbank though the track was ok.
Q15 Any good sponsors when you raced in Scotland?
BO - No but I think I sponsored McEwans pale ale while I was there!
Q16 Are they any good talent out there in New Zealand?
BO - Sorry I have been out of speedway so long I wouldn't know, I think Ivan is doing a good job with some really talented youngsters at his riding schools.
Q17 How did you like riding with Red Monteith and Maury Mattingly?
BO - Great, I caught up with Red by email about a year ago, and Maurie was a real gentleman.
Q18 Have you visited Scotland since your riding days?
BO - No, I have been involved with too many other things and havent had a chance to get back over, it also wouldnt have been the same when White City closed
