Don't think we can regard Stadler & Waldorf on Sky as the powers in charge of the sport (lol-people in charge??) but nevertheless I didn't catch any reference-think for the first telecast they were probably under orders to stay away from anything remotely controversial and to be fair the racing was in my opinion good enough that they didn't need to refer to much else. By the way, of course the people allegedly in charge will ignore anything controversial as otherwise they might be obliged to make a decision, something that they will shy away from at all costs!

yeah, think it's pretty laughable that a flagship show doesnt include the fact last years champs are not/might not/now reinstated ?? to the league for the following season ! in my book that constitutes as news !

In all fairness to Sky, the matter has yet to be resolved and so there was nothing to say. Sky respected that the immediate needs of the sport were more important than a premature or sensationalist announcement and for that they should be applauded.

I accept your comments that it is in the best interest of the sport to avoid any premature or sensationalistic journalism. Do you not agree though that it is also in the best interest of the sport to keep your paying public informed. The silence from the BSPA on the whole sorry mess is deafening!!!!!!!!!!

In fairness, the BSPA/Cov/Pet row - when resolved, should be announced by the individuals involved (And at Somerset last Friday, Mr Trump announced it over the tannoy that Coventry would be opening their season with home/away meetings vs Peterborough at the end of next week) Not by SKY.
I say well done to SKY for concentrating on what was a new season at a new Elite league track and promoting the sport in all it's glory rather than drag it through the quagmire that Coventry and Peterborough have done all Winter.

can see you're points Gordon and kevpat but the fact that hardly any mention on the bspa and then same Monday night ! I mean come on,this is the champions and another big club we are talking about here,I'd see the point if it wasn't but can you imagine any other sport coverage not to even mention such a big thing ? I mean why where Birmingham there in the first place, surely viewers who might not follow speedway that much would be scratching there head as to why Birmingham where suddenly in the elite league ??

The BSPA are probably legally bound not to say anything - as for SKY, then I believe they touched on the subject (but only briefly) in their preview programme a few nights ago but without going into too much detail. Guess they're also bound to only announce when legal implications are completed. I'm sure SKY would also be governed by legal proceedings should other sports have problems where lawyers have needed to be involved.
It's frustrating, and it's been a winter of discontent as far as being a speedway supporter goes - just gotta put it behind us, and get on with the important business of blitzing you Tiggers on Friday (living in hope rather than confidence!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I think Sky could and should have at least touched on the subject, even if that was to say that the matter still hadn't officially been resolved, rather than assume any mention would have been necessarily been sensationalist. I appreciate that doesn't show up a lot of folk in a very favourable light, but it doesn't take a genius to work out that the matter should have been sorted a while ago, rather than AFTER the start of a new season.
