AR Mainly house maintenance and repairs.

AR Yes I have watched the racing at Ashfield twice, there was some really good racing

AR I haven’t been to Workington much this year as I have been fell running to keep fit
most Saturday’s there has been a race on in the lake district

AR I think the skill of antisipating the start as learnt from Ivan Mauger has taken some of the
excitement away

AR Just things like tyres, fuel, spares and a little money
Q AT THE COST OF BIKES -LEATHERS WOULD YOU STILL BE A SPEEDWAY RIDER
AR When I started my first job the wage was £14 per week . A speedway bike was £600 So I
think every thing is still relative,

Q WHERE DID YOUR SPEEDWAY ADVENTURE BEGIN
AR As a young boy watching speedway at Belle Vue on a Saturday night, and riding old
bikes around a dirt track at the Collins family farm where many good speedway riders
evolved.
Q WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR FIRST SPEEDWAY BIKE AND HOW MUCH DID IT
COST.
AR My first speedway bike was a two valve Jawa bought from Jim Rowllinson who at the
time sponsored Peter Collins, Chris Morton, Chris Pusey and a few others He gave it to
me at a knock down price of £200. Which at the time seemed like a fortune.
Q WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE TRACK.
AR Once I learned to ride Blantyre I enjoyed the home track advantage.
Q WHAT WAS IT LIKE RIDING IN THE SAME CRADLEY TEAM AS PENHALL AND
GUNDERSEN
AR Bruce and Eric are really nice guys and at the time were very inspirational
Q YOU HAD A COUPLE OFF SPELLS WITH GLASGOW DID YOU ENJOY BOTH.
AR From a friends and fans point of view Glasgow was the centre of the universe for me
Q WHO WAS THE TOUGHEST OPPONENT YOU CAME UP AGAINST.
AR Every team has tough opponents but Jack Millen and Charlie McKinna spring to mind.
Q WHY DID YOU ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL AFTER YOUR LAST RIDE BEFORE COMING

AR I didn’t like the idea of doing a lap of honour when things went well and not when they

AR Probably broken femur. Although when I knocked my front teeth out it felt the worst.

AR I have been going to Workington for a few seasons but not so much this year.
