Great news that the new silencers have been banned in Poland as usual they have the kahunas and influence to make things happen.
One worrying side note is that apparently Polish riders cannot compete in any country who are using the new silencers.
How will this affect the Raj!!
I am hoping that a domino effect now kicks in with the silencers withdrawn worldwide but if not will the Raj need to take out a uk licence? Would he want too?

I'm sure Rajkowski has an ACU license to ride in the PL so wouldn't be subject to any ban imposed by the Polish authorities.

As MD says, Raj is on an ACU license, so the PZM have no pull over Michal what so-ever. As far as I know, that goes for all Poles in the Premier League, not quite sure how it works in the Elite though.

A common sense decision from the Poles. Apart from the fact that no one gives a toss about an 8% reduction in noise levels, there are compelling financial and safety reasons for not using them. They tried to enforce them this time last year and it was a resounding failure. If they were serious about bringing something like this in there should have been extensive testing. As far as I'm aware there has been none.
Interestingly, if the UK follows suit then the reason William Lawson gave for his retirement will be null and void. Will he reconsider or come up with another excuse for not riding?

Jan Staechmann posted on Yahoo groups about the subject. ================================ "Please keep in mind you’ve had a winter’s rest from hearing the noise, and if you were to hear the new and the old, back to back, I can assure you there is a marked difference. We’ve had new silencers before. Last time in 1995, when I was in the GP, and it played havoc with a lot of riders. Since then the engine tuners have dynamometers and many other gadgets to do much of the testing away from the circuits, whereas before everything was mostly on track, and often during meetings. It is all doable, although not ideal, because we all want to go faster What makes it so difficult, and turns to danger, is when the track conditions are poor and inconsistent. So there is a lot of acceptance, education, and engine tuning to be done, alterations to how you set up the engine and chassis. It may also be necessary to adapt your riding style accordingly, which is not as easy as it sounds... Having said that – I will put money on the fact that in years to come, track records will continue to be broken, under whatever rule changes will be implemented. It seems to be a case of having to “make the best of a bad job”. The unfortunate thing in all of this is, that coupled with what has gone on this winter with Coventry and Peterborough in the UK, is that it makes our sport look like a complete kindergarten to the outside world. A very amateurishly run sport. That really makes me sad." ==================================== Jan S is always thoughtful in his postings and responses and, unlike others, seems to have the ultimate good of the sport at the front of his mind. If only we could get someone like him in a position of some power to knock some heads together when it came to speedway shooting itself in the foot.

its ok to say we dont want them bring back the old etc but in this day and age there are to many tracks in built up areas and you will find most of them at some point get complaints about noise and the environment office then come into play witch can make it hard to keep speedway running so like it or not what would you prefer speedway to watch or no speedway dont be fooled these guys from the government can and will shut down a speedway track if the rules are not obeyed simple as that ,,,, personaly i prefer no restrictions to silencers but i still would rather see some speedway .

I must agree with Davie here better with speedway than without. This might calm rent-a-gub inthe the estate across from ashfield down a wee bit..... But i somehow doubt it born to moan comes to mind.

Don't really believe the Poles won't be in the GP etc. If it did happen I'm sure the crowds would be really poor at the (three?) Polish venues for the GP rounds and it would go some way to undermining the whole series. HOWEVER, if the Poles do split from the FIM/GP then I think there is a great opportunity for the Elite League to do the same and to put the boot in big time. It might be a chance to get British speedway back on track without the oppressive GP fixtures and conditions...but like I said i don't think it will come to this.
