Never bad to see God's own speedway team on the box but must admit Newcastle wouldn't have been my choice to watch them-hope the Diamonds finally invest in some shale to fill in the hole on the third bend, after about 35 years!

This is what I was hoping for. The track rebuilding work at Ashfield won't be coming cheap and this will help to offset some of it. Not as much as it would have been had we been the home team but very welcome nonetheless.

Some interesting comments from flagrag (who is part of the Sky production team) on BSF
'Just as a side note a number of senior Sky sports executives and directors visit speedway during the course of a season and I personally try to visit as many tracks as possible even in the winter recently I paid a visit to Glasgows track to have a look at a few things and how the track changes were getting on and was at Newcastle last week making plans for the Easter match up there.'
Twice in the one season............possibly??hopefully!!

Have the extensive track work included any thoughts to hosting a home Sky meeteing?? I might be wrong but was Ashfield in its previous state "unfit" to host the cameras? Would love to see the new track layout showcased to the whole of the sport!

Glasgow has a 7 day licence. The riders used to get to practice mid week so I don't see what the problem is with running a one off meeting for sky? They could hire the lights like they did for James Grieves Testimonial. I don't think the promotion would go as far as applying to get a one off meeting for sky.
