A huge loss to speedway and to Workington (of whom I have a lot of close links to Cumbria) for whom I doubt would be the team they are today without him.
Pales the rest of the speedway world's current pantomime into insignificance.
RIP Ian.

Call him what you like, one of the true backbones of British Speedway and one of the best promoters around, true old school.
RIP Ian

RIP Ian. One of the shrewdest team managers around, especially when there was more scope. I seem to recall 'Rider replacement' was almost due a testimonial at Newcastle he used it that many times for out of form riders, and who can forget the powerhouse Diamonds teams he put together. Maybe there's room for Stewart to step into the 'best team manager in the PL' shoes.

Wasn't a big fan but respected him for his ability to get bums on seats-if he could have bottled what he did then speedway would be the biggest spectator sport in Britain today. Always remember Neil McFarlane being one of the few to outfox him with the aid of a measuring tape and a pair of scissors at Paisley in 1975
