Question 1: How many clubs have you raced with?
GD: Hull in 1973 Coatbridge 1974 to 1977
Question 2: When the tigers sold there licences to Hull, were you happy with the travelling every week?
GD: Yes, I just wanted to ride it did not matter how far I had to travel!
Question 3: Who cleaned your bike and leathers? they were spotless every week. I give it a 10-10!
GD: I did all the cleaning my self. My mechanic Geoff did the tuning of he engine.
Question 4: You and Brian Collins were good friends do you still see each other?
GD: We see each other most years at the Dinner and Dance in Leicester. We sometimes speak on the phone as well.
Question 5: What was the best track you ever raced on?
GD: Coatbridge, Bell Vue and Halifax.
Question 6: What was the best gate position you came off at Coatbridge?
GD: Gate 4.
Question 7: With the cost to race speedway now, would you be a rider now?
GD: Yes, I wanted to be as good as Ivan Mauger.
Question 8: Who was the best team rider you raced with?
GD: Brain Collins. we did not ride together very much but he told me a lot about riding.
Question 9: Who was the best roller? yourself or trapper wilson ha-ha
GD: I dont know, that should be up to other people to decide.
Question 10: are you still going to speedway now?
GD: Not any more really. I used to go sometimes with Eric Broadbelt, but work commitments have put a stop to that for now.
Question 11: What did you decide to do after the serious injury that ended your career?
GD: My father and I went into partnership in his furniture business. I worked there till about 2000 when we sold the business. After that I worked as a delivery driver.
Question 12: It must have taken a while to recover how are you these days?
GD: I am a lot better these days, but my right side is still a bit slow. People tell me that I walk with a limp. Dont notice it myself.
Question 13: Do you still take an interest in speedway?
GD: Not really. Dont like to watch much. Preferred to ride myself.
