Q Did you enjoy racing at Coatbridge
MS For sure it was a great home track and every race was a learning curve that helped me develope into the rider I was.
Q You stepped up to BL very swiftly, did you find the transition easy to make.
MS Yeah, I wouldn't say easy but the (4 valve engine) era started when I started so it made is easier for me to be on
the pace straight away.
Q What was Ole Olsen like as a team-mate
MS A great motivator and team man cos it was towards the end of his career and he put a lot into a very young team
(Coventry Bees)
Q What was riding for Coventry supremo the Co. Charles Ochiltree, like
MS As is goes a (legend B.L. Promotor) hard but fair.
Q Who was the toughest opponent you faced during your career.
MS I would say 95% of all riders at International level are tough but Tony Rickardson was the toughest.
Q What is your all time team, from ex team-mates only
MS Ole Olsen, Bobby Schwartz, Tony Rickardson, Tommy Knudsen, Jeremy Doncaster, Per Jonsson
Shane Parker and myself Ha! Ha!
Q Are you still involved in Speedway in any way
MS Absolutely at an entry level of the sport. I am involved with a practive track in my area called
'Wattle Crook' Raceway I also have input in future league development.
Q How many clubs have you ridden for.
MS 1 NL, 4BL, 1 Polish and 1 German
Coatbridge, Coventry, Reading, Swindon, Ipswich, Tarnow, and Diedenbergen
Q I am sure that you must have, but did you ever hold the Golden helmet, what was your recoed like in that matche race
MS Never got to race for it until I made a guest appearance at Ipswich for Swindon and beat Jeremy Doncaster
and I believe I'm still the holder of it.
Q When and where did you ride your first speedway bike
MS 1973 at Kambla Grange Speedway near (Woolongong) N.S.W. Australia on a bike bought from BOB SHARPE

Q I am pretty sure that the first I saw you racing for the Tigers was in our firstmeeting in your inaugural season, which was away
at the huge bowl that was the Crewe track you immediately made a massive impact on the travelling support from Glasgow
Have you any memories of your first meeting there for tigers.
MS Yeah sounds about rite mate , Yeah lots of great trips away on the coach. I guess I will have to have a wee dram
with you all as I was too young then
Q Worst injury in your career
MS Broken wrist, pelvis in 4 places, fema shattered all from 1 crash in Western Springs Dec 1984
It was a career threatening accident.
Q Do you remember tyre packing the track at Coatbridge with Jimmy's bus
MS How could I forget that, the Big Rig (Bus) and me small fry, I still do it these days with anything big to drive Ha! Ha!
Q This question keep coming up what age were you when you signed for the tigers 14, 15 or 16
MS I was 15 but, first rode at Coatbridge at age 14 in 1974 and the trend is still happening today with riders
at Glasgow from Aussie eg., Arthur Sissis, Nick Morris etc at a similar age.
