Question 1: How many tracks did you race at in Scotland?
AW: Edinburgh Meadowbank, Glasgow White City and Hampden
Question 2: Did you enjoy riding at Hampden Park?
AW: No, neither the track or the person running it.
Question 3: What was the worst injury in your career?
AW: A head injury at Rochdale in 1970.
Question 4: Who was the best team mate you raced with?
AW: Bluey Scott at White City in 1966
Question 5: How many ex-tigers riders do you see in New Zealand?
AW: Robbie Adlington when i get up to the north island
Question 6: What was your best gate position at Hampden 1-2-3-4?
AW: NONE
Question 7: What was the highlight of your career?
AW: When I finished a season not in plaster.
Question 8: Did you stay in scotland when you raced here?
AW: Yes. Edinburgh, Livingston and Jedburgh on Danny Taylors farm.
Question 9: Did Neil Macfarlane ever buy you a wee scotch whiskey?
AW: His arms didnt reach his pockets! We had some good times when he was at White City as team manager.

I heard that Alfie had a very nasty illness a couple of years ago (one report suggested that he was at risk of having his legs amputated). How is his health nowadays? I recall talking to him a few times when he worked for Brian Collins / Brian Murray - seemed like a decent guy. We could use a couple of gaters like him in the current team!

Good to see that you have not lost your sense of humour, despite your misfortune. I hope that your health is otherwise good. Any chance that you might make a visit to the annual WRSA meeting? (Bluey Scott has been a couple of times recently along with other 'likely suspects' like Jimmy Tannock, Bert Harkins, Doug Templeton, Brian Collins and a host of other names from your era). It's a long way especially if you are not fully fit - maybe you could get Giffy to come with you - he could pass the time with some of his legendary stories.
