For better or for worse, the chances of one big league next year look to be getting more likely. Wolves and Peterborough won't be riding next year, Birmingham possibly joining them with Plymouth and Berwick unlikely to want or afford top tier racing.
So eleven teams, with Ipswich and Sheffield retaining their traditional Thursday race night and possibly Redcar going back to that night too. Where will Belle Vue, Kings Lynn and Leicester slot in? Will any want Saturdays? If not, then a Monday - Friday schedule may appeal to those riding in Poland at the weekend and the expected exodus may be less than forecast. Tuesdays would still be free for rearranged fixtures.
With eleven in the league then 2H and 2A would give teams twenty home meetings, more or less one a week throughout the season, 40 in total. Can clubs afford this? Too many? Perhaps but doubling up riders have 24 Premiership and 16 Championship league meetings this year, so 1H and 1A would represent a 50% reduction in meetings and earning power. Can't see that going down well.
With a full league programme, it doesn't look possible for teams to also run an NDL side, unless they are prepared to have two meetings a week. Probably not a good idea and in Oxfords case not possible at all.

I would say KLynn could be on a shoogly peg if Chapman wants out not to mention uncertainty re Monarchs though I suspect they will manage another year.

Did Tai not say he might come back next season if it was still two leagues? Maybe he could double down with us.

I would say KLynn could be on a shoogly peg if Chapman wants out not to mention uncertainty re Monarchs though I suspect they will manage another year. Ive found it hard over recent years to work out how KL have kept going. Their crowds have been visibly very poor for a while and their track shape has outlived its time by being an FTG borefest. Turn the clock back 10 years or so and I'd clear my calendar to ensure I got to watch the World Cup events that used to be there, they often produced high drama and good racing. I won't even switch the tv on now if its at KL, Ipswich or Leicester.

I don't believe that One Big League would be possible without a truly massive reduction in every club's team strengths.I have set out my views on this in a letter I have just posted to Speedway Star, so if they do decide to print it, I am quite ready to be shot down by people who do not agree with me, but I honestly think that the opinions I have set down are logical and unarguable.

Dont worry, Brian. In the British Final programme a Mr Godfrey proclaims thus "a one league structure is not viable next season and we can absolutely dismiss it". So there you go.
