AWPs may well be decisive in determining who comes top and gets to pick the play off groups. It looks like a three way shoot out between ourselves Oxford and Poole as both Redcar and Scunthorpe have lost too many away meetings. It is vital for us to get the extra point on Friday at Redcar as both Poole and Oxford look well placed to gain one at the Bears expense having scored 45 and 42 there.
While we will be looking to get the extra point from Plymouth and Berwick- and hopefully away wins too - this will just match Poole and Oxford, so the AWP from meetings with the pair and Scunthorpe will be telling. Can't see us getting anything at Poole, but will a ten point lead be enough at Scunthorpe? Unfortunately our home meeting only went 11 heats reducing the size of our win by quite a margin. We won there in the BSN meeting in our best performance of the season but the Scorpions have strengthen since then, so it's a tough ask. Oxford is finely balanced with the Cheetahs coming north with a 14 point lead to protect. This really is a two pointer!
Who would the top team pick? I'd expect the three top teams would want to avoid the other two and possibly would consider Scunthorpe another place to avoid so it would be Redcar and the sixth place team which right now looks like being Edinburgh.
