We're at Cowley tomorrow in the first of four tough meetings - Oxford (A), Poole (2H), Redcar (A). Tomorrow is a real top of the table clash and a clash of the respective top threes- Masters, Nicholls and guest Schlein v Harris, Basso and Brennan. Think we might get outgunned but looking forward to watching it on BSN. Just hope the weather holds.
Then a double helping of Poole, with the league meeting now more important than the BSN Final. However we need to put the Pirates back in their box in both meetings to stop the mystique about them gathering momentum. We really can beat them!
Finally Redcar, another meeting where we have ghosts to lay after a poor KO Cup showing there. And a bonus point to win.
All in all four toughies. Time for the tough to get going.

Had a look at my records and noted at Oxford in 1977 Tigers lost 18-60 with Mick McKeon top scoring on 5. Next year saw an improvement as we scored 19 and Oxford 58. Merv Janke top with 9. I am confident we will better those scores. Did not Benjamin go unbeaten there last year in the Pairs ? As Broon no doubt will say to his team "get intae thum".

Didnt we win there in the early 90s when Neil Macfarlane delayed the meeting by asking for a track inspection to give a tardy Tiger time to arrive. It is to be hoped the two promotions get together to finally come up with a date for the long postponed league meeting. Tuesday August 29 perhaps, provided we go to Plymouth the previous week, the night before we go to Poole. A busy end to an otherwise sparse yet protracted league campaign with potentially six league meetings in eleven days. Really need to pray it doesn't ran then. An expensive time for supporters with the Cardiff GP shortly thereafter.

I'd have thought last year would have been the final straw for even the most ardent fanatics who were still going.

We're going again this year, but as I've mentioned previously Mrs DWS's daughter lives in Cardiff, so it's a family holiday as much as anything. Irrespective of this, I think I would have given Cardiff one more chance. Surely the appalling conditions last year, and the massive negative feedback, will have put a huge focus on this not happening again..........? I've went every year, apart from a couple. Roughly the first fifteen years were mainly rubbish, then the next six years weren't really that bad, maybe even one or three quite half decent. There were rumours, earlier this year IIRC, of talks with Wembley.

Cardiff was a farce last year. Won't be back any time soon. Pity because it has a lot going for it, a good speedway tracks just not one of them. More ruts than Poole even. 😉

Hope you have a good one DWS. With Wembley being sounded out as a venue the writing may be on the wall for Cardiff. I think the track shape has outlived its time and barely has any passing or threat of passing though a few GP's have become like this. If only Belle Vue had a roof!

Ach!!! 6 points down after 13, then conceding two successive 5-1s. Grrr.

Question ...why was young Pijper improperly attired last night ? Where was his race suit ? Did he forget it ? Has he lost it ? Is it still in the washing machine ? A full inquiry called for, surely. Shoddy stuff and then some. I expect an improvement by Friday.

Don't think he wore it at the Brit U21 either.
