"I believe in this team. There’s a lot of mental strength. But this is a big test of their character now. They now have to go out and prove what they are made of. Birmingham are no mugs. They have their strongest team for some time now and they come to Ashfield with a lot of track knowledge.”
Cami Brown was a bit early with his "big test" comments. Birmingham were never going to be any kind of test on Friday. Most fans expected us to run up 55-60 points and even that was exceeded. However the June fixtures will be a real test
First up, we are at Armadale this coming Friday. The troubled Monarchs have won just once at home... but it was against us! Our league rivals Redcar and Scunthorpe have both won there so it's important to do the same to keep up with them. It's a fair ask but will be a test of the teams mettle. Edinburgh have shaken up their team bringing in a new Dane and an unknown reserve so there are a few unknowns but it's a "must win" meeting for us
Next we face them at Ashfield in a rare Friday night meeting against them. Anything other than a win and a BP will be a bigger disappointment than the Redcar defeat.
Scunthorpe return towards the end of a sparsely fixtured month. A repeat of our BSN semi result would be good though they too have rung the changes losing Clegg and Thompson and bringing Kemp and Ablitt, making things a bit tougher for us, but a good score is vital to take with us for the return meeting two months later at the end of August.
And finally ..... Poole in the BSN Final. We have some ghosts to lay, some scores to settle after last years play off capitulation. This is the real "Big test of our character". This will prove if we're a great team or just a good team, hopefully the former.
Testing times!
