Shows what I know and explains why I rarely bet! At least Proctor finished ahead of a couple of Bears- Ostergaard and Greaves - two more than Vissing managed. Its still doable on aggregate but a bit of a wake up call and we should reflect on why we took this fixture knowing that Rasmus wouldn't be available. Not quite so sure now that Bears have signed Riss, Andersson and Wooley. Gives them quite a strong spearhead and we need Claus, Rasmus and Paul to match them. All the more reason to clean up down the order, Wooley is a genuine NL rider and Andersson lost both his PL and CL places through lack of form. Not sure Eric Riss is the messiah they think, Edinburgh fans were frustrated with him regularly going missing in the money heats.

✉️ | Gerry Facenna -
"To the best speedway fans in the UK.
I am pleased to say that by Friday we should have completed a new bend 3, a new water bowser system and a first in world of speedway stadiums should be completed.
We have worked tirelessly this week to make sure that again, we do everything we can to make Ashfield an even better place to watch speedway.
This Friday, we host the Redcar Bears in the second leg of the cup and after the first leg it's set up to be a great tie. All I ask of you is that you drag along one new fan each, it would make such a huge difference to funding our great club.
The schools are finished for summer and kids under 12 go free. Let's try and get as many people to come along on Friday as possible and back the boys to get us into the next round!
Best wishes Gerry"
What exactly has been done/provided? I've always felt the third bend has needed attention as it gets down to the base really early. Hopefully this work has sorted it. What is the "first in world of Speedway stadiums" about. Sounds intriguing.

Thank manse. You any idea what's been done at Ashfield this week, in particular the world first item. Not sure if it is a world first but I have never seen the tyre packing left until after the start of a meeting - normally carried out in pre-meeting prep as it is definitely not exciting to watch and takes lots of time. Derek Smith mentioned that there were new attendees tonight - what must they have thought? The water tanker did mega laps of the track - shame that he could not have dropped a few gallons on the track. The track was ultra dry around the inside in particular so the grip level there was limited which wiped out Kyle and James chances of a decent score - they do no seem comfortable in the open spaces. I accept that Craig found grip there on occasion but he can find grip anywhere. Praise to the Bears tonight - they came determined to win and did an effective job. They also gave our lads a lesson in gating. They will be an awesome team when Kasper Anderson joins them.

Claus Vissing joins Rasser at Swindon as a temporary injury replacement for Stefan Nielsen. More racing can only be a good thing as his gating and lack of speed need worked on.
Luke Chessell re-appears at Plymouth in the NL as replacement for the injured Nathan Stoneman.

Luke Chessell re-appears at Plymouth in the NL as replacement for the injured Nathan Stoneman. I saw Chessell a couple of weeks ago guesting for a Swindon select at Kent Kings and he was woeful. Seems a nice lad so I do wish him well but he just hasn't got it.

As this years teams were built to a 38 point limit and will centre on 42 by the end of the season, it's to be expected that riders improve their averages. However the improvement by Craig and Kyle is exceptional. I didn't really expect Craig to increase his figure at all and we shoukd remember that Kyle's actual figure for 2018 was below 2.00, meaning he has nearly tripled his average!

More changes for tonight's meeting with us running RR for James although, while it's on the BSPA page, it's still to be confirmed on any of our media pages. It is believed James is about to become a father and we send best wishes to them. www.speedwaygb.co.uk/news.php?extend.36936Birmingham will only have an NL guest to replace Adam Ellis, something that will affect our finances more than those of the Midlanders. In this instance should there be the facility for the opposition to agree for a more suitable guest. I know this would lead to more convoluted rules but we're the ones it's going to cost - lower crowd and higher points money . Conversely the Brummies are likely to save money having a lower points cost. Just a thought. It's to be hoped tonight's meeting runs smoothly. We could do with that after last week and that we can get safely past next weekend without regretting Craig's absence. A good win against Eastbourne on Tuesday week could get us back in the groove on and off the track.

It seems there may also be a doubt about James Shanes attendance.
