Q1 ARE YOU STILL IN TOUCH WITH ANY RIDERS APART FROM YOUR BROTHER
OR FAN FROM YOU PAISLEY DAYS.
MS I’m still in touch with a lot of the old riders from all the tracks, I did go to Edinburgh
a few years ago to see my old pal Alan Bridgett and I’m always talking via face book
to Mike Fullerton, I get the odd message off old Paisley fans every now and then also
which is nice.
Q2 WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT YOUR PAISLEY DAYS
MS I loved my time at Paisley, the fans were fantastic and Neil and Sandra McFarlane were
great if I had a bad meeting (which was quite often ) Sandra use to put an extra £10 note
in my wages and told me not to tell any one including Neil. He was a great promoter and
the promoters today could do with taking a leaf out of his book, he was always fair and
encouraged you all the time a great great man.
We met some really nice people up there and always enjoyed racing there.
Q3 WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW
MS I am working for Screwfix, I only do 30 hrs a week now as I used to work on the
Ambulance but got injured (should have carried on racing lol) so they retired me, its
something to do and pays the bills
Q4 DO YOU STILL SEE MUCH SPEEDWAY-IF SO WHERE
MS No I don’t bother much with Speedway now, I think I have been to about 6 meetings
since I retired. I was at Scunthorpe a few weeks ago.
Q5 WHEN YOU WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF STRATHCLYDE MEETING AT PAISLEY
IT WAS REGARDED AS A BIT OF SUPRISE-WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT IT
MS Bit of a surprise !!wow I was stunned, I had in my first heat Brian Collins Whisky Dawson
and cannot remember the other, but I made a great gate and managed to hold pogo off
for four laps I could see his front wheel at the side of me for four laps, I knew then that I
was in with a good chance of winning it. In my 4th race Karl Askew brought me off in the
third turn and I had to use our Sid’s bike for the last heat against our Sid he used Tom
Davies bike and he said I was that slow he kept nearly running into the back off me, but
That’s his story I say he couldn’t catch me. Ha! Ha!
