Anyone remember how the admission prices have gone over the years. In 1973 we were paying 40p before VAT was introduced. There was a stushie over the price going up to 45p when it should only have had a 10% uplift ie 44p.

From the 15/08/1986 programme: "Last week we altered our admission prices to £3 including a reduced size programme instead of the previous £2.90 plus 50p."
I think it was £3 when Shawfield opened plus 50p for the programme.

Here's the 1984 Track Directory from Speedway Star which gives a good overview of prices up and down the country... SStar1984.pdf (825.12 KB)

Some more bits and bobs:
From 1976, increased prices for an Inter-League 4TT were reserved stand seat £1.25, ground £1, juveniles & OAP's 70p. Admission by ticket only!
1978 you could buy a seated season ticket for £25.
1980, described as the 'minimum allowed by the BSPA' prices were £1.40 adults and 70p juveniles. Programme 20p.
1982 opening night programme stated there would be no increase on 1981 prices bar a 5p rise in the cost of a programme to 30p.
1987 opening night programme states £3 including programme which were seen as 'realistic and compare favourably with other tracks.' 7th August programme announced admission to remain at £3 but the programme would now be an extra 30p.
