We've certainly rolled the dice with Ostergaard. Is he coming on a low average and one he can improve on or is his figure inflated by a spell at reserve for Newcastle and his career is winding down. Could be either. Not sure that he's good cover for the number three spot and the 3/4 pairing of him and Sam looks a bit lightweight away from home. Gather the book is now closed on our seventh signing!

Old age doesn't come itself! But my comment about our middle pairing being weak away from home holds true for Ulle and Broc. Its may be time to recognise how difficult our number two slot is for whoever rides there. Riding with Craig is certainly going to cramp your scoring as Sargeant and MBA found last year. 9 is your maximum.

If Sedgo is our last signing I reckon the delay is in posting a Tigers tee shirt to Aussie for him to put on before his name is released.

If we could get a number 2 who could get 9 points every match that would do me 😁

If Sedgo is our last signing I reckon the delay is in posting a Tigers tee shirt to Aussie for him to put on before his name is released. Could be the work permit being processed. If it is Sedgmen we need to employ a sports psychologist/mentor/motivator to be personally assigned to him. He's on a good average that has improvement in it but he could seriously test your patience if things don't go his way, particularly early on.

Yes, a work permit shouldnt be a problem as he won the Victorian Championship a couple of weeks ago.Never mind a shrink, md, as he just needs to read this forum and you me, coombes, dws, city tiger et al will keep him on track.

Sedgmen, our "maybe man" finishes third in the South Australian championship which presumably meets any visa requirement. Bewley and Keleher are first and second with Medson the other finalist.

Seems to be on very good form. What has happened to him over the last couple of seasons? Blighted by injury? A bit huffy? Lost his desire to go for the gap? All of the above? Still only 27 I see.

Its a bit hard to get a feel for how good the field was. Bickley, Brennan and List, who all rode in the Championship this year, all scored eight. Sedgmen got beaten by McGuiness, Brennan and Medson in the heats but was the only rider to head Bewley in the qualifying races.

Been away for a few weeks so catching up on things. I see that some of the rumours on BSF have proved to be correct and that we have built our team with the idea of having 2 strong reserves, as has been argued on here by a few fans. It will be interesting to see how that pans out when up against 'top heavy' teams. Can't help repeating that it's wrong that the rules in effect penalise some riders for trying too hard for their team and then having to be replaced due 'the numbers game', e.g. Claus. Is it true that next year the league champions will be able to retain their team for the following season and other teams can then build to that teams average; I think this was asked for by Rossiter this year - or did I dream that on the plane!

Can't help repeating that we could have kept Claus if we really had wanted to. Ricky Wells in place of Rasmus Jensen and we're well below the points limit. It was our decision. Perhaps we didn't feel Claus could maintain his average next year when riding at five after spending most of this year at the far easier number three slot. This would still be the case with a higher points limit.

This year was probably the closest we have come to winning the playoffs with a top heavy team. In reality it was Starke's injury IMO which cost us. For much of the season we seemed to win by fewer than 10 points and got most of them from heats 13 & 15 having been unable to gain any form of lead in the opening 10 or 11 heats, when heat advantages were rarer than honest politicians. This season that flips that on its head where we must be building a points lead from the opening heat to offset the challenge from the top heavy teams like the 0131 who are likely to be very strong in the last 3. I've been one of the critics of a top heavy team, and as close as we've come there is no trophy in the cabinet. Hopefully the more balanced side can bring it home this year though we seem to be in a much more competitive league with the poorer teams from this year considerably stronger such as Brum and Edinburgh, and Poole haven't joined to make up the numbers. Bring it on.
