It's to be hoped that young Sam is ok after his alarming crash that saw the meeting abandoned due to lack of medical cover. A disappointing turn out for these young guys, rather mirroring a general lack of interest on the social media for the event and few of the regular presentation staff to the fore too. Those that did come saw some good talent and some good races too, although the couple of occasions where a rider was lapped looked a bit hairy.

Yes, looked really sore when McGurk's bike ran over him. Crowd never seems to be good at these meetings which is a pity because I like watching the young ones. Thought Max James and Sam Hagon looked the part but Palin was a class above everyone with a lovely style. Best wishes to young Sam Norris btw.

The crowd was lower than previous meetings of this kind at this time of year. We need to consider whether we disrupt our fixture list again in June in the future. Later in the season perhaps. Not many of the promotion/ presentation team/ photographers there either.

Had a look on the Young Lions site and interesting that Archie Wareham is the nephew of Martin Goodwin while Charlie Woods is the wee brother of Eastbourne rider George. I think Sam Hagon is grandson of Alf and of course we know about the Pijpers.

Thought Palin's style looked like Kenny McKinna.

Hoping the young fella can pull through:

Another slight improvement via this evening 's update from his parents. The crowd funding to help them now £2k over stated target.

Our rained off home meeting with Scunthorpe has been arranged for Saturday August 31 and our Scottish Cup ties with Edinburgh have been put back to the weekend of 28/30 September, giving us a bit of "wiggle room" in September. However we still need to come up with dates for the Championship Shield semis with Eastbourne - and soon. There's no obvious blank date so we need to go for a midweek date and have three home meetings in eight days - is that a problem - or look at moving a league meeting from July into the free dates in late August/ early September.

Presumably we're not looking to have a home fixture on Friday August 23 as Craig will be away in Croatia for the GP Qualifier the next day but woukd we consider a mid week meeting a few days earlier?
Craig seems certain to be in the GP squad for the Speedway of Nations final, a two day event in Russia on July 20 & 21, so he'll miss our home and away league fixtures with Newcastle that weekend.

Does Rasmus missing the meeting at Redcar due to a fixture in Sweden taking priority mean that we are "snookered" for Tuesday nights as there seems to be no summer break in Sweden unlike previous years. It would explain why we're toiling to arrange this fixture.

Our home tie with Eastbourne has been arranged for Tuesday 23rd July. No word on the away leg. Eastbourne have a reserved date on Saturday July 20th but Craig is away on SON duty and we have the Newcastle home and away fixtures either side of that night so that is a no no. Looks like this Saturday was a possibility but it hasn't happened so it's down to Eastbourne to rejig their fixtures to free up a Saturday date, perhaps Birmingham if they are prepared to help giving August 3rd. Perhaps.
