today was simply unacceptable and i'm fed up with the same old same old! it's about time we don't just accept that we're crap. there was a new guy today standing next to us and i felt so embarrassed to have to explain why the riders were coming out in black and white! and trying to convince him that it's not always like this wasn't easy. yes, we know the club are in financial difficulty blah blah blah, but when new people come along and see this, they won't come back, meaning less money. of course everyone wants to win the league but right now i just want a HALF DECENT team who can at least put on a show at home. screeny and grievesy done their job and never gave up, thats what u want to see! not a bunch of riders giving up if they don't make the gate. glad sean said there will be changes at the end of the meeting, whether or not these changes will be fruitful remains to be seen. i just feel deflated

Hi heather, I didn't stay after the last race, good to hear there will be changes but is there anyone out there, who would be good enough? Bye for now, on the square

It certainly was very unfortunate timing to have such a gutless display when we were hoping to capture some new converts.
The only saving point was that the newbies standing next to me didn't seem to be totally put off by our ineptitude.
They were amazed at the speed and the sound and the spectacular crash so perhaps the real damage done was to the diehards.
I will not pay sixteen quid for that. I am a consumer and I am not getting value for money.
Any good points? Well none really were there.
So thankfully change or changes are afoot.
We all have our thoughts as to who should go.
But who is there out there to come in?
What is the arrangement with magnus karlsson? Is the red tape surrounding sam masters insurmountable? We should have loads of points to play with the crashing averages and assessed corrections. Anyone goodish who might want to double down?
Serious changes needed to keep the paying public spending our money buying this unique and potentially wonderful product.

I think Masters is a lost cause this year to be honest. I'd go for Magnus Karlsson, he should be finished up with Leicester soon should he not?

brought back memories of that farce at Armadale 3 years ago when the team 'failed to appear' as they were worried they would be dropped - the time Screeny and Nick Morris came in....looked the same today....good on Sean for his apologies and also the promotion's apology on the website...didn't see or hear any riders apologising...after all, it wasn't Sean or the promotion who were utterly dreadful.....maybe some of them should remember that it is us who actually pay their wages....thank God we get a 2 week break

I knew we in were for a hard time time today. I brought some first timers today and they enjoyed it. When I pointed we got humped they were disappointed but still thought that they would come back. They would now put this forward to the social committee for concideration.

What is the arrangement with magnus karlsson? Funnily enough I was passed on the M80 by a van bearing the legend 'Team Magnus' but it turned out it was a company van, but it got me wondering............... Don't know who else of a decent standard is available, but it would most likely be a Scandinavian and I wondered who the second halfer was, withe kevlars bearing Raun on the back. Jonas perhaps?

an awful day at the office yesterday eh? i left after heat 9, not in digust but because i had prior arrangements. at least the first 9 heats were run pretty promptly. one of the most painful matches i've ever watched. was more track grading needed? regardless we were not at the races. whilst i love and support the team, i'm very glad to hear changes are afoot, no harm to anyone who will make way for flesh blood.
so options... ryan fisher? charles wright? (was gutted he wasn't back with the stripes this year) taylor poole? matt tressarieu? claus nedermark? can't think of any others.
all the best to james w and joe in the pairs, hoping for a good performance

dirtywhensecond, this thread of yours, “Not worth a thread on its own.......just a comment,” is proving to be a peculiar thing. Not only are your comments not worth a thread on their own (your assessment), but somehow the thread appears to have become the repository for every comment on any topic on the whole forum (conveniently forgetting benbulben’s newbie “Chilling Facts,” posted while this contribution was in the writing!). So, in the spirit in which all struggling Tigers riders continue to be supported, your 'unworthy' comments are clearly not alone!
But it’s not a worthless thread by any means, not in my eyes anyway, or many others’, it would seem. The irony here is that this ‘unworthy’ comments thread of yours has in effect morphed into a discussion concerning the most important issue now facing the Tigers: the current crisis in form and impending team changes. Surely, that, if nothing else, does warrant a thread all on its own.
Nevertheless, while the Easy,Tiger! community is happy to coalesce around this single thread, I’ll add a few of my own comments here, some of which are linked to discussions on threads elsewhere and which many will agree are not worthy of anything!
During the winter I suggested a similar idea, i.e. for the mods to reintroduce a general comments thread to accommodate discussions not necessarily directly related to speedway. Just a reminder: the idea can be revisited at “Facebook Face-off.” I did go further in pursuing this idea in History via the thread “Favourites!” but that met with an indignant response from tigereye which rather took the, ahem, ‘wind out of my sails’ on the matter. As far as I’m concerned, that’s now the end of it until an appropriate thread category option is introduced on Easy,Tiger!.
Re: “Glasgow v Scunthorpe.” jim, I owe you an apology. You were obviously one of the few people who read the full version of my post before I edited it, and your response was clearly composed accordingly. It perhaps left others confused by your reference to a certain Mr Z. To those people (if interested), quite simply, my first paragraph was initially expanded to include a somewhat insulting rant at Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, whose recent, overtly political interventions must surely count as objectionable. I won’t reproduce the rant here, apart from to say it included the words: Zero; Zombies; Zucchini; Zugzwang; Zuck & Zee; and Zarathustra!
But be assured, jim, I haven’t fallen from my mount. In any case, if I did what could possibly go wrong? I’m riding a donkey, remember! I am myself assured, however, by your speedy response to my original “Glasgow v Scunthorpe” post, which was edited within minutes. Such vigilance from a trusted companion is all a ‘quixotic tilter’ could ever need!!
More on that “Glasgow v Scunthorpe” thread: continued best wishes to James Grieves and, for that matter, the rest of the Tigers team. In light of the announced intention by the club to sign new riders, to both those who will remain and those who are set to be released, all you can do is just do the right things and keep plugging away. Then good form must surely return at some point.
Finally, the Monarchs may have made it look easy yesterday but that is never the case in speedway. Good bikes obviously count for a lot but that nebulous element of confidence is crucial. To re-instill that throughout the Glasgow team will require hard work and encouraging words from all at the club, not forgetting, of course, the boost that the introduction of fresh talent will provide.
But on the subject of confidence, I have only one piece of advice to give, and on the face of it it’s actually pointless giving it anyway. Why? Because riders shouldn’t be reading this in the first place. Why? Because the advice is this: stay away from all social media!
If you’ve had a bad meeting, you know you’ve had a bad meeting and the very last thing you need is to read about it for a week before your next one. Ok?
So, if any Glasgow rider happens to be reading this, go away and don’t come back until you’re riding like a world champion when, presumably, everyone will be talking about how great you are.
But the main thing of all, here’s the real biggie, and I would say this, wouldn’t I…stay well clear of Facebook! Not only does Facebook have the potential to be detrimental to your confidence and thus your career, unlike Easy,Tiger! it’s also, how should I put this...Zugzwang!

Walshie I've reread your post a couple of times. Perhaps that wasn't enough times.
I don't think you're really criticising me but maybe you are. I think we're two minds of the same head. No? I certainly meant no thunder stealing. You will have read i am not a Mr z subscriber myself. Unfortunately zed is not dead and won't be anytime soon.
I like this forum and thought stealing an idea from Mr z might give us a kick start.
I don't think I was wrong.
To keep the metaphors cryptic - "in god we trust but everyone else must bring data"

dirtywhensecond, passing cryptic comments on internet forums is always likely to risk being misunderstood or, worse, causing offence. It’s a risk that perhaps I have a habit of flirting with a little too closely, including here. Apologies if the first part of my post above caused you any consternation.
Be assured, though, that no criticism of you or the thread you started was intended at all. My intro was merely a somewhat convoluted means of making general observations about the forum, linking that to what I wanted to say and, foolishly, attempting to be wry in the process. Since my short spell as co-track curator, the only people I have criticised or knowingly mocked on Easy,Tiger! would be, well, Mark Zuckerberg, obviously, and myself!
I hope the comments keep coming on your thread; it’s certainly attracted a good deal of interest so far. And by the way, I liked your cryptic comment to close - gave us all something to think about which is, I think, the point of being cryptic!
Anyway, to continue the original theme of this thread, another ‘worthless’ (you see, I just can’t help it!) comment from me…
Just returned from the pub after watching speedway on Sky. I don’t think I was mistaken but, did I see Chris ‘bomber’ Harris, he who was famous for invoking the legacy of Air Marshal Arthur Harris and embracing the RAF target symbol as his personal motif, sporting a baseball cap with World War II German/Nazi insignia?
Still not sure I actually saw that but, either way, these are crazy, confusing and, yes, cryptic times, that’s for sure!

Never clocked it this evening, but I have noticed Harris sporting the Iron Cross insignia previously. A quick check sows it belongs to one of his sponsors - West Coast Choppers - who happen to be a Netherlands based company, which adds to the IRONy Lets hope his Daytonas haven't been replaced with Jack Boots ;D

Hope tigers can bounce back and i wonder who will stay and who will go. James Wright was a risk but he started of well the british final never helped his confidence. James Grieves needs time and more speed. Joe Screen doing the business as always. Henning??? not last years rider left his gating gloves back in denmark. Joey Ringwood showing promise has speed great to watch. Harley Howood must have his hat on a shakey peg but will get more time. Joe Jacobs must be a pain driving here each week but glad he is.
