I wonder of anyone can oblige me...
I'm looking for the heat format of the final meeting at Blantyre Stadium, 18th October 1981. I have the results but it's one of the Blantyre programmes I don't have and I'd like to confirm the riding order. Or aquire the programme if there's one going spare ;D
While I'm at it, Tigers inter-league challenge with Halifax was rained off a couple of weeks earlier. Was a programme produced and was it re-issued at all?

I don't have the progs, but I got these details from www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk/ which I often refer to. A brilliant site. Interesting to note that "Rocket" Ray Palmer won the last race. RIP, Ray.

Jim, I'm well versed with the Speedway Researcher site, indeed it is where I procured the results I have from. It's fast building into an awesome body of work and is partly responsible for my query here. I'm in the process of creating Excel spreadsheets which can be used for archiving results. I'm working through the myriad variations seen in speedway meetings over the years trying to cover as many 'bases' as possible. The sheets are as 'automated' as they can be to make completion easier. Save file as a PDF and bingo...I've attached an example below (edit: well I did but resolution was poor so link goes to full size file) imageshack.us/a/img594/6424/2tt16heatsgenericpage00.jpgWhat I'm wanting to check is the heat formula. I've worked backwards from the results but the formula I arrived at doesn't tie in with what I was expecting to find from another 12-heat meeting I have a programme for.

I also meant to add RIP Ray and isn't it ironic that the Master of Blantyre didn't ride in it's final meeting? Was Steve ill or what?

I honestly can't remember why Steve wasn't riding. I'll ask John Houston. If anyone knows, Housty will.

Housty says that Steve and Kath were booked up to go on holiday to Miami. I take it that the last meeting was perhaps unscheduled and Steve didn't want to disappoint Kath. A very wise man.

Miami or Blantyre - it's one of those choices you hope you never have to make ;D
Thanks

I scanned my copy of the programme at work today (sh, nobody must know ;D) and have attached it, hope it's visible. Attachments:

Thanks Flying Tiger. It appears the Tigers' riding order on the results Jim posted is wildly wrong although I'm guessing it was a valiant attempt made without the programme to hand. I've attached my completed results sheet... Attachments:

Cheers, Flying Tiger. I'll pass your prog details on to Speedway Researcher.

Glad to help, as I did behind the scenes earlier in the thread - I was asked offsite why Steve missed the meeting & found the answer after a wee bit of investigating.
Although in this case the info Jim supplied via the Speedway Researcher was incorrect, I have to echo the praise for that site, it's superb.

I've found a few 'mistakes' on the Researcher site but they're mostly typing errors. Hence the reason I'm trying to automate the affair as much as possible. The amount of typing undertaken by contributors on the site is legion - I'm hoping these spreadsheets can ease/simplify the workload a bit. Unfortunately there's a seemingly never ending variation in meeting formats! 20 heats, 10-a-side I ask you! Incidentally these excel sheets are for anyone that wants them I'm not starting another Kandysoft or anything

Seem to remember a Buccaneers program being a hand written and photo copied affair, although that may have been at Blantyre2 . Anyone remember how many Buccaneers meetings there were. Did we have two or three over the years? As the 1981 meeting was a 6 a side affair, its doubtful that there is/was a standard heat format for it.
Fairly sure i was there but don't remember any party etc at the end to make the closing of the track. anyone remember?

Coombes, the hand written prog - final meeting at Craighead in 82 was just that. No Buccaneers though. They'd been a week earlier and thanks to FlyingTiger turns out the two formulas were the same, right down to the printing error in Heat 7.
I think the Buccaneers made 3 appearances - 81, 82 and 84.

If I remember right the final meeting of the 1982 season at Craighead Park was a hastily arranged three team tournament on the Sunday October 31st, after the challenge match with Berwick was postponed on the 29th. It was indeed a hand written photo copied sheet that was handed out and it involved The Cumbrians, Ayrshire Rebels and Lanarkshire Eagles. It was just all the home riders plus Bobby Beaton that took part. Coombes, my memories of the final meeting at Blantyre One were of a drab, wet and murky afternoon and everyone just quietly filing out at the end. I was just a youngster but thats what I recall. I think the final race was the Scottish Championship won by Charlie McKinna DaveAllan, I have never come across a programme for that postponed Halifax (Oct 4th) meeting and I am not convinced one was even produced The next meeting was on Saturday 10th against the Moanarchs and the programme from the month befores postponed meeting was used.
