Berwick get off to the best possible start with home and away wins over Newcastle and a big win at Brough Park means they get four league points. So they've set the bar high already. We need to hit the ground running this coming weekend.

Garcia got paid 13 from reserve, something i suspect we wont deal with on Friday night. The top 5 need to be on it right from the off.

However taking two and a half hours on a cold night isn't great and it's something we really need to improve on. Seriously? I was home before 10 and I live 25 minutes away. Big delay after the crash after heat 14. Racing was brilliant too.

Thought it was a great nights speedway myself. Apart from the tannoy issues and wee delays thought it was good. Can't remember last ashfield meeting with so much passing. 9/10 from me😁

Yes my arithmetic was suspect, but interested to hear you baled out before the end.

Thought there would have been re runs on the big screen, surely they are not just for updating the score.

Berwick beat us 52-38 tonight putting them back in pole position. We now need an away win at either Newcastle or Armadale to catch them. Having reset my sundial, recalibrated my abacus and abstained from strong drink, I hope I'm correct in stating Berwicks meeting tonight was run in marginally less than 90 minutes, considerably less than last night.

Luckily for Berwick, they didn't have opposition riders smashing into safety fences after races and getting injured. Handy that, if you are obsessed about how quickly you want meetings to run.

Edinburgh lose at Newcastle and fail to take a league point, so unless they do a double over us they're out of contention. So let's put them out next week! However we need an away win at either Armadale or Newcastle to best Berwick.

Eastbourne's huge 53-37 win at Birmingham isn't great news for our section. This puts them through to the semis as group winners. However runners up Somerset have got 9 league points from 4 meetings giving them a ratio of 2.25 points per meeting. To beat this for the highest runner up our section would need 14 league points, a ratio of 2.33. 13 league points being insufficient on 2.16.
Both Tigers and Berwick can achieve a maximum of 17 if they both complete big wins at Edinburgh and Newcastle. However to get 14 to ensure qualification both need to go unbeaten at home this weekend, Berwick beating Edinburgh, Tigers beating Newcastle, while Berwick need 1 point from their meeting at Armadale while we need 5 points - either 4+1 (big away win and narrow defeat) or 3+2 (narrow win and draw). Either way nothing looks like being decided until we go to Armadale for the restaging - whenever it is.

Berwick get a point at Armadale tonight and a home win over Edinburgh tomorrow will put them on 14 and guarantee them a place in the semis even if we top their total. Our win tonight means we need five or more points to join them so as a minimum we need one point from Newcastle but I'd hope we're setting our sights higher than that.
