A Great Britain side beat some Australians in Perth www.speedwaygb.co.uk/news.php?extend.37841Hardly representative sides and what exactly is Simon Stead's reason for being there. Tai Woffinden could have given all the advice necessary - and probably did. A shocking waste of money!

Another big win for GB with Fraser Bowes having a better night scoring 7+2, which makes us all feel really old! Simon Stead hopes it becomes an annual event - I bet he does! Apparently it's " a big step forward for the GB Speedway team". Aye right!

From the Somerset web page
The draw for Round 1 of the Championship KOC has been independently drawn today, and is as follows: Poole v Edinburgh Leicester v Berwick Birmingham v Redcar Somerset v Glasgow Byes: Eastbourne Kent Newcastle Scunthorpe
Not quite sure why it was necessary to say it was "independently drawn". Interestingly the four round one ties are all North v South. It is to be hoped Newcastle make it to the tapes for 2020. If they don't the cup draw looks a bit lopsided, with one of the second round qualifiers getting a bye into the semis, possibly one of the three that weren't in round one.a - Full Draw: Edinburgh/Poole v Birmingham/RedcarSomerset/Glasgow v Leicester/BerwickScunthorpe v Kent Eastbourne v NewcastleA potential meeting with Leicester should we both win our first round ties. Seems the cup draw was changed, with Edinburgh now racing Newcastle. Anyone know why?

It seems wrong that clubs can change a cup draw , presumably to cut down on travelling expenses, particularly as Poole no longer have to contest a first round tie but get put straignht into the quarters with Newcastle now having an extra round to contest. Edinburgh's reserved date of June 12 for the KO Cup quarter final looks in vain as their opponents, either Redcar or Birmingham, are racing each other in a league meeting that night. More changes coming up??

From the Poole website regarding the changing of the KO Cup draw
The Poole management are keen to clarify the situation regarding the SGB Championship KO Cup draw, with their tie against the Eastbourne Eagles being confirmed as a second round tie.
Initially, the club had been drawn to face Edinburgh in the first round but trying to slot an early cup date into the club's busy start of season campaign encountered a number of logistical problems, particularly as the Pirates, back on Wednesday night racing, have to share the date with Birmingham and Somerset (together with Kent) and do not have the 'grandfather' rights over those two already established Championship clubs. Newcastle, originally drawn with a bye to the second round, had greater flexibility in the early weeks of the season and so, rather than risk delaying the competition unnecessarily, the two promotions reached an agreement, sanctioned by the BSPA that the Diamond's would take Poole's place in the first round. The Pirates were then subsequently drawn against Eastbourne, who along with Kent and Scunthorpe were routed into the second round.
Poole promoter Dan Ford explained "Our fixture list is pretty much very packed out in the first couple of months of the season and fitting in an early round cup tie was proving impractical. We spoke with the Newcastle promotion and reached a sensible compromise. The switch between us and Newcastle made sense on so many levels and so we jointly made the approach to the governing body to allow this to happen.
Poole don't seem to have a meeting scheduled for April 8 and possibly could have moved the league meeting with Berwick on April 29. Unlike other clubs they seem to be unprepared to use an alternative race night.

Get all the details here 👇 t.co/0ZvbILtkTdIt's not available if you live within a 50 mile radius of Armadale. I'm sure I'm just 49 miles away! Don't suppose there would be many/any Tigers fans who would decide to watch a televised meeting at Armadale rather than go to Ashfield on a wet night.

It's all a bit quiet right now, so let's have a look at teams tracking former Tigers Berwick 3 - Summers, Garcia, Bickley Birmingham 2 - Harris, Thomas Eastbourne 2 - Kerr, Richard Lawson Edinburgh 3 - Sarjeant, Richie Worrall, William Lawson Kent 1 - Starke Leicester 1 - Morris Newcastle 3 - Vissing, Wethers, James Wright Poole 0 Redcar 1 - Charles Wright - not counting Lawlor who never actually rode for us Scunthorpe 1 - Ayres Somerset 1 - Barker
While it means nearly all our meetings will generate some interest in seeing former Tigers return, is this eroding any on going feeling about "our team"?

Of that lengthy list only Summers, Richard Lawson and Sargeant are Tigers assets. Have I missed anyone?

Happy Birthday Warren Edric Charlie. A great servant to Glasgow in his heyday - a one off character. I seem to recall that he was due to travel back to attend a WSRA event some years ago but managed to fall off his house roof trying to fix his TV aerial. In these days of Skype, it would be good to have an interview with some former riders at social events - Charlie may not be the best choice for this as he did not interview well (to put it mildly) and it would have to be after the 'watershed' as he tended to use the odd expletive.

As i have been critical of his writing in the past i feel it only fair to say what a fine two page article Phil Lanning has written on Danny. Hits the mark.
