Andy, I wasn't referring to stats and averages. I meant who'll be number one rider...at Ashfield on Sundays? It's a juicy prospect. On current form you'd have to favour Mcgowan, He's got the bike set up perfectly, no one has got near him the past 2 weeks, Can't see that changing come this Sunday either.

I'm assuming there has to be another signing, as from what I can see Screen will score a couple of points a match more than Grieves (maybe) but that still doesn't answer the issues about the long tail. Like the others I'm pleased to see Screen in the lineup but the 3 heatleaders aren't capable of scoring 40+ points on their own, neither am I convinced that Morris will immediately start scoring the kind of points we need him to-I'd rather have seen him come in at reserve and get time to adjust but either he's gonnae go into the main body or one of our existing reserves, who are not scoring as well as we need them to at 6 or 7, never mind in the main body, will be promoted and the problem thus remains.

Does Morris definatley have to come into the team? I would've thought it would be our choice which 3 pointer we place in the team, or do actual averages come into play?
I've said it several times, just viewing it as a fan in the stand wanting a better team, not knowing financial implications or even willingness to rider. I reckon our best bet is Carl Stonehewer in for Anders Andersen. I'm aware he's not the same rider, but he was still a very capable 2nd string, well capable of the 2nd & 3rd place we require to back up the heat leaders. Unless the promotion can pull a Stefan Ekberg style rabbit out the hat.

Purely from a personal or more accurately personality opinion I wouldnt welcome Stonehewer.
I never like him when he was actually any good but he's well past it now.
And does anyone else remember the one finger "ssshhhh" gestures to the tigers faithful one of the last visits he made.
He's not for me. Just dont think we should ever sign anyone who displays that attitude and disrespect.
Would we sign Sneddon if he was available ? Who can argue against his effectiveness around Ashfield but the stadium would be ermpty if we ever signed him. However I'd be very willing to be proved wrong and Stonehewer could easily be the answer to the 6-7 pt a meeting rider.
Better a has-been than a never-will-be ?
Perhaps.........

Wasn't too sure where to put my thoughts on the team changes but here is as good as anywhere else.
Firstly, thanks to James and wishing him the best of luck for the future. I think that he has been treated shabbily in this whole business.
Do the team changes strengthen the Tigers to any appreciable degree? At the moment I have my doubts. The balance of the side hasn't altered and the serious failing of having far, far too many zeros in the scorechart doesn't look as though it will change unless young Nick Morris hits the ground running in the PL. A big ask for a relatively inexperienced boy.
We have a good top three and, as many people have pointed out, a tail that is still too long.
I am a huge fan of Joe Screen and he will obviously bring a great deal to the team in terms of experience and racing ability. But I am concerned that the promotion may have put all of their eggs in one basket as far as this is concerned and to the detriment of having a balanced side with scoring potential spread throughout. We had a lop sided team. We still have a lop sided team.
I have no idea who would have been available but I think that we have perhaps been a bit blinkered in our ambition to fit Joe in at any cost. There must surely have been other options available which would have given us a more solid side. Something which we have been screaming out for.
I am hoping that we have a longer term plan in mind to strengthen the middle order as the season progresses.

Couldn't agree more Jim, either about the overwhelming need to strengthen the middle of the team (although I can't offer anyone other than Stonehewer, even if he would race and score the requisite 6/7 a match), and more important for me, how badly Grieves has been treated. I appreciate tough decisions had to be made, but the phrases such as "Screen brought in to replace injured Grieves" don't mask the fact that he seems to have been earmarked for the chop anyway. Screen will certainly be a crowd pleaser, but surely Grievesy did that when the circuit was a racing track?

William Lawson's current EL Greensheet average is 3.85. (Issued 04/06/10)
Which when converted is 7.7 for the PL. (EL CMA x2)
His 09 PL average was 5.60, but I think the higher converted one applies.

Sorry PLUSTAR, but none of those figures are right for Wullie dropping back down. If Wullie were to drop back down, he would revert back to his last PL average as he dropped back down within a year of last riding in the league. And his average at the end of the season with us was 6.55. Which is what he would come in on

Ah I'd forgotten it would have been is Glasgow average that applied at the end of 09.
The way I'd read it I thought the higher would apply anyway, but this is speedway after all.
